• Guwahati is decking up for what a minister called a “high-level visit” amidst a buzz that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe could hold talks in this city in Assam mid-December.


• India announced that the annual summit of the two prime ministers will be held during December 15-17, but other details such as the venue and the agenda for the meeting were not announced.

• Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) on 8th December.


• The exam is held twice a year for providing a minimum teacher eligibility certificate to become a teacher. Around 30 lakh candidates appear for the exam every year.


• The exam is being conducted in two shifts, morning shift for CTET Paper 1 and evening shift for CTET Paper 2.

• Mizoram school education board has released the examination schedule of class 10th and 12th 2020 on its official website. Students appearing in the examination can check the date sheet online at mseb.edu.in.


• The HSLC (Class 10) written examinations 2020 will be conducted from February 17 to March 3, 2020, while HSSCL (Class 12) examinations will be held from February 18 to March 18, 2020.

• National Testing Agency (NTA) concluded the UGC NET December 2019 exam on December 6 and now candidates are awaiting the preliminary answer key for the exam.


• NTA is expected to release the provisional answer key soon. The exam was conducted for over 10 lakh candidates in 81 subjects. The exam was conducted at 700 centres in 219 cities. It was a computer-based test (CBT).

• Domestic stock markets gave up early gains in a volatile session on Monday. The S&P BSE Sensex index fell as much as 108.59 points to hit 40,336.56 on the downside, and the broader NSE Nifty benchmark declined to as low as 11,888.05, down 33.45 points from the previous close.


• Losses in financial, consumer goods and energy stocks pulled the markets lower, however gains in automobile shares provided some support. However, the markets recovered most of those losses in the first few minutes of trade.

• With the aim to catch manipulators, SEBI has started scanning matrimonial websites to look for profiles of suspected persons to find links with family members in front-running cases.


• It has checked the profile of a trader, Vaibhav Dhadda, who was barred for front-running in funds of Fidelity Group, and had used the alias Avi. SEBI also barred two other people.
