  • Maharashtra day is also known as Maharashtra Diwas and it is celebrated to commemorate the formation of the state when it was divided from Bombay on [latex]1^{st}[/latex] May, 1960. It was divided into Maharashtra and Gujarat on the account of different languages spoken.

  • After the division took place, Maharashtra was formed comprising of areas where Marathi and Konkani speaking people reside. Whereas in Gujarat it was dominated by Gujarati and Kutchi speaking people.

  • A huge contingent of the police special force and army personnel cordoned off a 1.5 sq km area of Kattankudy on Sri Lanka’s eastern coast.

  • The cordon cut off the area with Muslim residents, including radical leader Zahran Hashim’s sister Mathaniya and brother-in-law Niyaz Sharif. Police picked up Niyaz for questioning and Mathaniya left for her mother-in-law’s place. SEBI fines NSE ₹625 crore in co-location facility case
