Australian writer faces China spying charges

  • The Australian citizen has been held in Beijing since January under "harsh conditions", said the foreign ministry.

  • "We have serious concerns for Dr. Yang's welfare, and about the conditions under which he is being been held," she said.

  • Mr. Macron had accused him of "lying" about fighting climate change.

  • Aid worth $22m (£18m) was announced by Mr. Macron at a summit in France of the seven leading industrial powers.

  • The Bimal Jalan Committee, on reviewing the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) extant economic capital framework, has recommended the alignment of the financial year of RBI (July to June) with the fiscal year of the Government (April to March) from the financial year 2020-21.
