Mexico judge approves recreational cocaine for two users

  • A Mexican judge has granted two people the right to recreational cocaine use, in the first ruling of its kind, the organisation behind the cases said.

  • The court said it would allow the claimants to "possess, transport and use cocaine" but not sell it, according to Mexico United Against Crime (MUCD).

  • MUCD, which seeks to end the country's "war on drugs", called the ruling a "historic step".

  • Senior advocate C.S. Vaidyanathan for Ram Lalla, Ayodhya’s infant deity, told the Supreme Court that a stone slab, which fell out of the western wall of the disputed Babri Masjid structure, had Sanskrit inscriptions dating back to the 12th century about a Lord Vishnu temple.

  • Appearing before a Constitution Bench led by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Mr. Vaidyanathan said the slab and the inscriptions give credence to the version that the Babri mosque was built on the disputed land where a massive structure supported by several pillars once stood.

  • He said it is believed by devotees that Lord Vishnu took human form as Rama.

  • The Lok Sabha Secretariat said it has banned the use of non-reusable plastic water bottles and other plastic items within the Parliament complex with effect from Tuesday.

  • All officers and staff of the Lok Sabha secretariat and other allied agencies working in the Parliament House Complex will have to stop using plastic and switch over to environment-friendly biodegradable bags and other material, the Lok Sabha secretariat said in a statement issued.

  • SSC in an official notice informed that the SSC JHT notification 2019 could not be released due to administrative reasons. It will be released on August 27, 2019.

  • Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Babulal Gaur (89) passed away on Wednesday morning. He died at a private hospital here. He had been admitted for the past two weeks due to a respiratory problem.

  • State BJP media in-charge Lokendra Parashar announced Gaur’s death in the morning.

  • Born in Naugler village in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh on June 2, 1930, Gaur was the only politician in Madhya Pradesh and perhaps the only one in the country, according to some BJP leaders, who won state assembly elections from the same seat 10 times in a row.
