• Congressional Democrats slapped subpoenas Monday on the Pentagon and White House budget office as part of their advancing impeachment probe, demanding documents tied to President Donald Trump's withholding of military aid to Ukraine.


• The chairmen of three House panels leading the impeachment investigation are seeking information related to Trump pressing his Ukrainian counterpart to uncover dirt on 2020 US presidential contender Joe Biden -- and the alleged conditioning of aid on that favor.

• For the past five years, Syrian Kurds have stood alongside the United States in its effort to vanquish the Islamic State, in the process securing control over a vast area of Syria they hoped would form the nucleus of an autonomous Kurdish region.


• The unexpected announcement by President Donald Trump that he will draw down the U.S. military presence in Syria to make way for Turkish troops was greeted by the Kurds as a betrayal of the trust established during the fight, which has cost the lives of more than 12,000 members of the Syrian Democratic Forces, the joint Kurdish-Arab militia formed to battle the militants.

• Passengers onboard the Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express, the country's first private semi-high speed train, were being given biodegradable packaged drinking water bottles.


• Chief Regional Manager (CRM), IRCTC, Lucknow region, Ashwini Srivastava said: "At least 1,500 bottles are being served on Tejas Express every day in both up and down trips.


• The bottles would be in use for a few months to observe the results and check how much do they actually decompose.

• The Gurgaon Police said it has arrested 28 proclaimed offenders and eight bail jumpers from different places here in the last 10 days and seized illegal drugs and liquor as the model code of conduct remains in force for the October 21 Haryana Assembly polls.


• Gurgaon senior police official Subhash Bokan said police teams are keeping a tight vigil on the activities of criminals who are out on bail, bail jumpers, proclaimed offenders, bad characters, non-bailable offenders and local criminals.

• Initially, the last date to apply for JEE Main January 2020 exam was September 30 but NTA extended the application deadline to October 10.


• Consequently the last date to submit application fee has also been extended to October 11, 2019.

• English drummer Peter Edward Ginger Baker is familiarly known as Ginger Baker and co-founder of the rock band “Cream” passed away at the age of 80 in England due to old age ailments.


• Born on August 19, 1939 in London, England Ginger Baker’s music career spanned for 6 decades and emerged as the first superstar percussionist. He won the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in 1993 as a member of ‘Cream’.
