• Israeli aircraft carried out attacks in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip early, Palestinian security officials said, hours after militants in the enclave launched three rockets at the Jewish state.

• The National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a charge sheet against two suspected Islamic State operatives — Mohammed Azarudeen, believed to be the outfit’s Coimbatore module, and his associate Sheikh Hidayatullah.

• Admission to BSc and MSc courses in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) would be through entrance examinations, details of which have been announced.


• AIIMS BSc Nursing, BSc Nursing (Post-Basic) and BSc (paramedical courses) admission entrance exam would be held on June 6, 20 and 28.


• The exam for admission to MSc Nursing, MSc Biotechnology and other MSc courses will be held on June 6 and July 4. Registration for the exam would begin on December 13 for MSc course and December 12 for BSc course.

• State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Axis Bank today provide a range of maturity options for retail fixed deposits.


• Five of the country's largest banks by market value provide interest rates to the tune of 3.5-6.70 per cent to the general public, and 3.5-7.20 per cent to the senior citizens on term deposits - or fixed deposits - below Rs 2 crore, according to their websites.


• State Bank of India, the country's largest lender by assets, provides eight maturity options for such FDs, ranging from seven days to 10 years.

• Axis Bank pays interest rates to the tune of 3.50-7.35 per cent to customers on fixed deposits up to Rs 2 crore.


• These fixed deposits, also known as retail term deposits, are available in a total 29 maturity options ranging from seven days to 10 years at the private sector bank. Axis Bank pays slightly higher returns to senior citizen retail depositors compared to other customers in select maturities.
