• US President Donald Trump's suggestion that he could sign a trade deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Iowa has set off a flurry of excitement in Muscatine, Iowa, a city on the banks of the Mississippi River that has hosted Xi twice since 1985.


• Xi received a key to the 24,000-population city during his first visit, when he led an agricultural study group and stayed at the home of a local family. He also met and befriended then-governor Terry Branstad, who is now Trump's ambassador to Beijing.

• Mississippi has been found to be the most obese state in the US according to new findings that drew on data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.


• According to personal finance site WalletHub's ''2019's the Fattest States in America'' report, Mississippi was rated the fattest state in America, mainly due to having the highest prevalence of children and adults who are overweight and obese.

• Testimony by two of the "three amigos" charged with running Ukraine policy for President Donald Trump will be made public on Tuesday as Democratic-led congressional committees release more transcripts from their impeachment investigation.


• Representative Adam Schiff, chairman of the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, told reporters transcripts would be released of interviews with Kurt Volker, Trump's former special representative for Ukraine negotiations, and Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union.

• IBPS SO 2019 recruitment has begun. Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) had announced the recruitment details for Specialist Officer (SO) post on November 5.


• This year SO 1,163 vacancies have been announced, by the banking personnel selection body, in 17 nationalised banks. Candidates with graduation and / or postgraduation degrees in the relevant disciplines, within 20-30 years of age, are eligible to apply for the recruitment.

• Infosys will disclose the summary of investigation once complete and will take corrective action if required, said Infosys Chairman Nandan Nilekani.

• Over 1,598 students created a Guinness World Record for the Largest astrophysics lesson and assembly of spectroscopes here, organisers said.


• The feat was achieved on the first day of the India International Science Festival (IISF) at the Science City. Astronomers use spectroscopes to know details such as temperature and chemical composition of celestial objects that are light years away from the earth.
