• Iran's supreme leader again ruled out negotiations with Washington, a day before the 40th anniversary of the hostage crisis at the US embassy in Tehran.


• "Those who see negotiations with the US as the solution to every problem are certainly mistaken," Mr. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said during a speech to mark the anniversary, according to his official website.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a three-day Thailand visit, will attend Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Summit today where the member countries will review the state of negotiations on forging what could become the world's largest trade bloc.


• RCEP is a proposed free trade agreement among 10 ASEAN countries, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Laos and Vietnam and their six FTA partners China, Japan, India, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

• Ahead of the expected verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit by Supreme Court, Uttar Pradesh police chief OP Singh said that the state police is ready and if needed the National Security Act (NSA) will be imposed on elements who attempt to disrupt law and order.

• Led by India, South Asia is moving towards becoming center of global growth and could contribute about one-third of the world's growth by 2040, according to a latest research by the International Monetary Fund.

• The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) is yet to announce the exam dates for Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) recruitment.


• The RRC MTS exam date was supposed to be announced after October 31. A total of 152 vacancies in MTS posts in the commercial department of Northern Railway will be filled by RRC through this recruitment. Class 10th pass and ITI certified candidates will take the exam.


• "Candidate should be in readiness to appear for the written test at short notice after the last date for submission is over," the job notification released by RRC reads.

• Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is expected to announce the result of the first stage exam held in August for Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) recruitment tomorrow.


• As per the data shared by the Commission 19.18 lakh candidates took the exam which was held from August 2 to August 22 in 39 shifts. MTS is a General Central Service Group 'C' Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post.

• State Bank of India will auction non-performing assets (NPAs) worth Rs. 700 crore this month to recover its dues.


• There will be three auctions in the month and the total amount outstanding is Rs. 700.34 crore, according to SBI's auction plan.


• Ludhiana-based Regency Aqua Electro & Hotel Resorts Pvt Ltd and Kolkata-based Lovely International Pvt Ltd will be auctioned on November 18, while on November 29, the e-auction of Sankalp Engineering & Pvt Ltd and Anjana Rice Mill Pvt Ltd will take place, among others.

• Domestic stock markets started Monday's session on a positive note tracking gains in Asian peers, with the S&P BSE Sensex index clocking a new record high in early trade.


• The Sensex rose to as high as 40,434.83, up 269.8 points from the previous close. The broader NSE Nifty benchmark rose as much as 84.2 points to touch 11,974.80 on the upside in the first few minutes of trade, and was still 128.25 points short of its all-time high registered in June.
