• India is planning to open 100 additional airports by 2024, as part of a plan to revive economic growth in Asia's third-largest economy, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

• Nearly 1.3 million debit and credit card data of Indian banking customers that can fetch up to $130 million for cybercriminals are available on Dark Web for open sale.


• According to ZDNet, the cards' details are available on Joker's Stash one of the oldest card shops on the dark web which is known to be the place where major hackers sell card dumps.

• Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the marks of recommended candidates in the Engineering Services (Main) Examination.

• Ordnance Factory Recruitment Centre (OFRC) of Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), which works under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, will release an official notification soon to recruit 4,805 Apprentices in its various facilities.


• According to a short notice released by the OFB, which heads 41 ordnance factories that make arms and ammunition for the Indian Army, online applications will be invited for engagement of 56th batch (for Non-ITI and ITI categories) of Trade Apprentices under the ‘Apprentices Act 1961' in Ordnance and Ordnance Equipment Factories located in different states across India.

• HDFC Bank has revised its fixed deposit interest rates with effect from October 30, 2019. After the revision, HDFC Bank pays interest rates in the range of 3.50-6.85 per cent to the general public on fixed deposits (FD) up to Rs. 2 crore, over maturity periods ranging from seven days to 10 years, according to private sector lender's website - hdfcbank.com.


• The bank pays slightly higher returns to senior citizen customers. In the same range of maturity options, the bank pays interest rates to the tune of 4-7.35 per cent to senior citizens on these FDs.

• Shares of the Mumbai-based private sector lender - Yes Bank - surged as much as 35 per cent, its biggest single day gain in four weeks, to hit an intraday high of Rs. 76.65 after it received a binding offer of investment worth $1.2 billion from a global investor. On the National Stock Exchange, Yes Bank shares climbed as much as 29 per cent to Rs. 73.80.


• "The Bank would like to inform that it has now received a binding offer from a global investor for an investment of $1.2 Billion in the Bank through fresh issuance of equity shares, subject to regulatory approvals/conditions as well as Bank's Board and Shareholders approvals," Yes Bank said in an exchange notification.

• Apple announced its financial results for the fourth fiscal quarter of the year. The Cupertino, California-based company posted a quarterly revenue of $64 billon (roughly Rs. 4,53,000 crores), with international sales accounting for 60 percent of it.


• The revenue was up 2 percent year-over-year and beat analyst expectations. The company also revealed that it established new Q4 earnings record in India and several other markets, including the US, Brazil, and various South-East Asian countries. With the stellar Q4 showing, Apple seems to have had an overall decent year in India.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in Gujarat today to mark National Unity Day, has been presented with a memento honouring the contribution and sacrifice of the police fraternity of India.


• The memento - a replica of the National Police Memorial that commemorates the more than 34,000 state and central policemen and women who died in the line of duty - was handed over by the wife of Naseer Ahmad, one of the 42 CRPF soldiers who were killed in February's terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.

• Radha Krishna Mathur is the first Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh, which came into being on the midnight of October 30 following the centre's decision to end special status to Jammu and Kashmir and split it into two union territories.


• Radha Krishna Mathur retired as the Chief Information Commissioner of India in 2018. He is a retired 1977-batch IAS officer from the Tripura cadre.


• Mr. Mathur, 65, was Defence Secretary at the center before his appointment as Lieutenant Governor.

• Veteran Communist Party of India or CPI leader and former MP Gurudas Dasgupta died today following a prolonged illness, party sources said. He was 83. Dasgupta is survived by his wife and daughter.


• He was suffering from lung cancer for the last several months, West Bengal CPI secretary Swapan Banerjee said.


• "He (Gurudas Dasgupta) passed away at his home in Kolkata at 6 am. He was suffering from lung cancer for quite some time.


• Due to his poor health he had relinquished party posts but was a member of CPI national executive council," Mr. Banerjee said.
