• Yemeni rebels said they carried out a major assault on forces of a Saudi Arabian-led coalition near the two nations' border, releasing footage they say shows hundreds of captured troops, including Saudi officers, and destroyed Saudi military vehicles.


• The rebels also said they killed or wounded 500 coalition soldiers.


• The Saudi-led coalition has yet to respond to the rebels' claims. If confirmed, the assault would represent one of the most significant victories for the Iranian-aligned rebels, known as Houthis, in the nearly five-year civil war gripping the Middle East's poorest nation.

• JEE Main 2020 application process, for exam which will be held in January, will close today. The JEE Main 2020 application process will conclude at 11:50 pm today.


• Applicants will be able to pay application fee till October 1, 2019. The application fee can be paid through Credit card/Debit card/Net banking/UPI and PAYTM.


• The January session of the JEE Main exam will be conducted between January 6 to January 11, 2020. National Testing Agency, which conducts the JEE Main exam, has changed the exam pattern this year and has introduced a separate paper for entrance to B.Planning course.

• The now-suspended managing director of the crisis-hit Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank (PMC), Joy Thomas, has reportedly admitted to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) that the bank’s actual exposure to the bankrupt Housing Development and Infrastructure (HDIL) is over Rs 6,500 crore.

• After cutting the policy repo rate by an 'unconventional' 35 basis points in the August bi-monthly monetary policy review, the Reserve Bank of India is expected to cut it further by up to 25 basis points in the upcoming October 4 review to complement the recent corporate tax cuts announced by the government to reverse the slowdown in growth.


• Financial market experts say the magnitude of the repo rate cut could be lower this time as the RBI has cumulatively slashed it by 110 basis points in the calendar year so far.

• IRCTC IPO opened for subscription today and the issue is expected to see a strong demand amid the recent rebound in equity market sentiment after the corporate tax cut.


• As of 10:45 am, the issue was 0.07 times subscribed. Many analysts have also recommended "subscribe" to IRCTC IPO, citing valuation comfort. The issue closes for subscription on 3rd October.


• Though this IPO in state-run IRCTC, the government is offloading 2 crore equity shares or 12.6% stake, which will bring down its stake to 87.4%.


• The price band of ₹640 crore IRCTC IPO has been fixed at ₹315-320 per share but retail investors and eligible employees would be offered a discount of ₹10 per share.


• IRCTC is the only entity authorized by Indian Railways to provide catering services to railways, online railway ticketing service and packaged drinking water at railway stations and trains in India.

• Veteran actor Viju Khote, best known for his roles in films such as Sholay and Andaz Apna Apna, died in Mumbai on Monday morning, reported news agency PTI. Viju Khote was 77.
