• Migrants have hijacked a merchant vessel that rescued them off Libya's coast, ordering the crew to head towards Malta, reports say.


• More than 100 migrants aboard the cargo ship are said to have acted after being told they would be taken back to Libya.


• Malta's military said the ship would not be allowed into its waters. Italy's Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini described the hijackers as "pirates".

• Jamtara police have registered an FIR against state agriculture minister Randhir Singh, based on a complaint by a zila parishad member, who accused the minister of assault, police said.

• The Reserve Bank of India upped the investment limit for FY2019-20 for foreign portfolio investors (FPI) in Central government securities (G-Secs) to 6 per cent of outstanding stock of securities from 5.5 per cent in FY2018-19.


• The limit for FPI investment in State development loans (SDLs) and corporate bonds has been left unchanged at 2 per cent and 9 per cent of outstanding stocks.

• The RBI, said non-residents can undertake transactions in the rupee interest rate derivatives markets to hedge an exposure to rupee interest rate risk and for purposes other than hedging.


• According to the central bank, a non-resident may undertake rupee interest rate derivative transactions in India to hedge its interest rate risk using any permitted product transacted on recognised stock exchanges, electronic trading platforms (ETPs) or over the counter (OTC) markets.

• India has proved its capability of defending its outer space assets after Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has conducted a successful Anti-Satellite (ASAT) missile test “Mission Shakti” from the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island (earlier, Wheeler island) in Odisha.


• The target was hit by the DRDO developed Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) Interceptor Missile, in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) in a “Hit to Kill” mode at a height of 300 km from the earth’s surface. The satellite used as target in the mission was one of India’s existing satellites.

• Former Australian Spinner, Coach and commentator, Bruce Yardley died following a prolonged fight with Cancer at the age of 71.


• Bruce Yardley was born on [latex]5^{th}[/latex] September 1947 in Midland, Western Australia. He played 33 Tests and 7 ODIs for Australia as an off-spinner. He was known for his ten-wicket haul against West Indies at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 1982.
