• North Korea said there has been no progress in the North Korea-United States relations, and hostilities that could lead to an exchange of fire have continued, according to North Korea's state news agency KCNA.

• Belgian Budget Minister Sophie Wilmes has been chosen as the country's new caretaker prime minister -- a first for a woman, the current premier Charles Michel said.


• The 44-year-old still has to be sworn in by King Philippe, who is expected to announce the nomination formally at the earliest.

• Pakistan said it has denied India's request to allow Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flight to use its airspace for his upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia, alleging the violation of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir.


• In a statement, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan has decided not to allow Prime Minister Modi to use the country's airspace, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.


• Mr. Qureshi said the Indian High Commissioner is being informed of this decision in writing.

• The Union government will use Aadhaar-based data generated from key farm-sector programmes such as PM-KISAN and soil health cards to build a new farmers’ database, which will give unprecedented insights into the rural economy and aid precise targeting of subsidies, two officials with knowledge of the matter said.


• The proposed database has been made possible by the mandatory use of a beneficiary’s Aadhaar -- the 12-digit biometric identity for all rural schemes, according to the first official. It will be a “unified and integrated IT-based” repository, containing multiple information about a farm household, from financial details to landholdings data, the official said.

• Central Board of Secondary Education or CBSE, the official agency which conduct national level teacher eligibility test or CTET, will release the admit card for the same by the third week of November month.


• According to the official Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) notification, the dates for downloading CTET admit card will be available on the website www.ctet.nic.in. The candidates may download the CTET admit card the official website and appear for the examination at the given centre on December 12.

• University Grants Commission or UGC, the higher education regulator, has released a circular asking the heads of universities in the country to take a slew of measures including ICCs and Special Cells to ensure a safe and healthy environment for women students and employees on the campuses of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs).


• The UGC said the HEIs can play a significant role in ensuring the safety of women and providing a healthy environment by putting in place foolproof mechanisms and impregnable standards of safety.
