• Iran's foreign minister accused them of "parroting absurd US claims".

• Hours before a planned meeting with President Donald Trump, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan blamed him for derailing a peace deal aimed at ending the longest-running war in U.S. history.


• Speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, Khan said he would urge Trump to resume talks with the Taliban to pave the way for a cease-fire and the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.


• "The peace deal was just about to be signed this is painful for us the peace deal was about to be signed and you know President Trump," Khan said, trailing off. "He should have discussed it with us."

• Russia's prime minister gave formal support to the Paris climate agreement, just hours ahead of a key summit trying to tackle ever increasing gas emissions.


• The document signed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev says that Russia is formally accepting the 2015 Paris agreement and will now "allocate financial resources to developing countries for prevention of and adaptation to climate change."


• The Paris Agreement, which Russia signed in 2016, gives countries a choice in how to join the accords by ratification, acceptance, approval or accession to the agreement, depending on their national legislation.

• Mexico is bracing for a "very powerful" impact from the collapse of British travel firm Thomas Cook, an official said, as several hundred tourists gathered at the Cancun airport looking for a way home.


• Britain sends more tourists to Mexico's Caribbean coast than any other European country, and more than any country in the world except the United States and Canada, according to Mexican tourism ministry figures.


• And the majority of those Britons traveled through Thomas Cook, said Dario Flota, head of the tourism promotion board for the state of Quintana Roo, home to the turquoise waters and white-sand beaches of destinations such as Cancun and the Riviera Maya.

• Saudi Arabia has restored more than 75% of crude output lost after attacks on its facilities and will return to full volumes by early next week, a source briefed on the latest developments told Reuters.


• Saudi oil production from its Khurais plant is now at more than 1.3 million barrels per day, while current production from its Abqaiq plant is at about 3 million BPD, the source said.


• The September 14 attacks on the two giant plants caused raging fires and damage that halved the crude output of the world's top oil exporter, by shutting down 5.7 million barrels per day of production.

• The External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held 11 bilateral meetings with his foreign counterparts that included Iran, Bulgaria, Turkey, Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, UAE and others, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.


• Mr. Jaishankar also met US special envoy on Afghan peace reconciliation, Zalmay Khalilzad, for the first time after peace talks broke down earlier this month between the United States and Taliban.

• The Indian Railways has completed the construction of the giant four-lane cable-stayed railway over bridge at Burdwan Junction in West Bengal, which will be inaugurated by Union Minister Piyush Goyal on September 30.


• The RoB, considered to be the second-largest in the country, was completed in 197 days without affecting traffic for even a single day, officials said.


• The work on 188.43-metre cable-stayed RoB began in 2012. Besides having 1.5 meter-wide footpaths on each of the sides parallel to the lanes, the RoB has 27.7 meters of width to accommodate vehicles on four lanes.

• Intelligence inputs have warned of a possible terror attack during the festive season, official sources said.


• Army sources said there were strong inputs of major infiltration attempts along the Line of Control (LoC) in the next three or four days.


• “There are alerts ahead of festivals where the probability of terror attacks is higher. There is a general alert along the border.


• This is going to continue till the festive season as they may try to do something,” an official source said.

• The Reserve Bank of India has put limitations on the withdrawal of amount by accountholders of the Mumbai-based Punjab and Maharashtra Co-Operative Bank (PMC Bank) for six months.


• "The depositors will be allowed to withdraw a sum not exceeding Rs. 1,000 of the total balance in every savings bank account or current account or any other deposit account by whatever name called, subject to conditions stipulated in the RBI Directions," RBI said in a press release.


• Reserve Bank of India has also put a restriction on the PMC Bank for making any advances or loans to its customers.

• Private sector ICICI Bank has opened 320 bank branches this financial year and has crossed the milestone of 5,000 retail branches. In all, it plans to open 450 new branches this fiscal.
