• Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has fitted the entire fleet of Taxis running in the city with surveillance cameras to monitor the conduct of their drivers.

• Cabin crew at four Lufthansa subsidiary airlines staged a day-long strike, causing dozens of cancellations at German airports in a battle for better pay and conditions.


• The walkout, called by the UFO cabin crew union, was initially set to last from 5:00 am until 11:00 am (0300-0900 GMT) but a worsening spat with Lufthansa bosses prompted the union to extend the strike until midnight.


• The industrial action at Eurowings, Germanwings, SunExpress, and CityLine led to at least 12 departures being scrapped at Hamburg airport, around 10 in Munich and around 15 at Berlin-Tegel, according to DPA news agency.

• Passenger carrier IndiGo inaugurated the first direct flight to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC or Saigon), Vietnam from Kolkata, making HCMC carrier's 22nd international and 7th Southeast Asian destination, the company said in a statement.


• "We are excited to inaugurate our flights to Ho Chi Minh City, which holds immense potential for both business and leisure travellers," said William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo. The daily flights on the route will be started from October 27.

• Thousands of Rohingya living in Bangladesh refugee camps have agreed to move to an island in the Bay of Bengal, officials said Sunday, despite fears the site is prone to flooding.


• Dhaka has long wanted to move 100,000 refugees to the muddy silt islet, saying it would take the pressure off the overcrowded border camps where almost a million Rohingya live.


• Some 740,000 Rohingya fled Myanmar in August 2017 in the face of a military crackdown, joining 200,000 refugees already in makeshift tent settlements at Cox's Bazar.

• The online registration of devotees visiting Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur could not be started on Sunday as India and Pakistan have not yet agreed upon on a number of issues, including Islamabad's insistence of charging $20 from pilgrims, officials said.

• The Delhi government will approach the CBSE with a proposal to treat vocational subjects as main subject in schools and not as additional ones, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.


• "All schools should be having vocational subjects in their curriculum. And these subjects should be treated at par with the regular subjects. We aim to make the vocational subject as the main subject and not an additional subject. We will be talking to CBSE about this soon," he said.

• Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals have appointed Australia cricketer Andrew McDonald as their new head coach for a period of three years.


• McDonald has been a part of the IPL in the past having played for the Delhi Daredevils in the 2009 edition before being signed up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2012-2013. He was also the bowling coach of RCB.

• Indonesia-based ride-hailing and payments unicorn Gojek's Co-founder Nadiem Makarim said he has resigned from the CEO position to join Indonesian President Joko Widodo's Cabinet.


• "I have received a big honour to be able to join the Cabinet," Makarim told reporters. Makarim said his specific role would be announced by the President later in the week.
