• A bill to scrap the provision in the 'Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Act' that makes the Congress president permanent member of the trust which manages Amritsar's Jallianwala Bagh massacre memorial, was passed in Rajya Sabha by voice vote.


• With an exception of MP Jairam Ramesh, who voted in the negative, the Congress members of parliament remained silent during voting.


• The amendment bill, which was earlier passed in the Lok Sabha, also provides for making the Leader of Opposition or leader of the single largest party its permanent member.

• All the obstacles that stalled talks of alliance formation in Maharashtra have been cleared, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut told reporters, hinting that his party will form government along with Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress in the state.

• Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has pulled up officials including three municipal commissioners, DDA Vice Chairman and CEO of Delhi Jal Board who were not present at the meeting of Parliament's standing committee on Urban Development which was called over Delhi air pollution.


• Sources said the officials met the Speaker where they were asked about their absence.


• A meeting of the Standing Committee on Urban Development has now been scheduled. It will discuss 'Role of Municipal Corporations of Delhi, DDA, NDMC, CPWD, and NBCC in reducing air pollution in Delhi'.

• Think-tanks, financial sector bodies, experts within the finance ministry, and the ruling Bharatiya Janata party’s ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), all want the government to focus on the rural economy in the forthcoming Union budget, three people familiar with the matter said on condition of anonymity.


• The thinking in many quarters is that a focus on the rural economy could help revive aggregate demand and address the ongoing economic slowdown, the people added.

• Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2019 application process will conclude today. The last date to submit the application fee after completing the registration is November 21.


• Candidates who complete the application process can download and print their application form till November 22, 2019.

• Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is within stone's throw of the Rs. 10 lakh crore market capitalisation milestone hovering at Rs. 9.92 lakh crore - after its wholly owned subsidiary Reliance Jio announced plans to hike the mobile phone call and data charges.


• This tariff hike announcement comes on the heels of similar declarations by rivals, Airtel and Vodafone Idea, in the past two days.


• Reliance Jio has disrupted the telecom industry since its launch three years ago by offering mobile telephony and data services at dirt cheap prices, and this would be its first significant tariff hike since its inception. Reliance Industries surged as much as 4.1 per cent to Rs. 1,571, its all-time high level.

• Yes Bank informed the exchanges that Rana Kapoor and promoter entities Yes Capital and Morgan Credits have sold their remaining 0.8 per cent stakes in the company.


• According to a stock exchange filing, the promoters sold 2.04 crore shares in the open market during November 13-14. The promoter entities now hold 900 shares in Yes Bank.

• India's economic growth probably hit a new low last quarter, with early forecasts showing expansion below 5 per cent.


• Economists at State Bank of India, Nomura Holdings Inc., and Capital Economics Ltd. lowered their growth forecasts for the quarter ended September to between 4.2 percent to 4.7 percent. The government is scheduled to publish the data on November 29.

• New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is still not over the dramatic loss which his side suffered in the 2019 World Cup final against England, saying deciding the result on boundary count was "not really cricket".

• India and Bangladesh will face off in a historic match starting on November 22 at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata.


• It will be the first time that either of the two teams will play a day-night Test match. It is also the first ever day-night Test hosted in India.


• The fact that the match will be a pink-ball affair was decided soon after the newly appointed BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly, took office.

• The European Space Agency (ESA) has shared the first recording of a magnetic 'song' produced by the waves generated in the Earth's magnetic field by the collision of a solar storm.
