• The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) may file a supplementary charge-sheet in connection with the alleged murder of the Unnao rape victim’s father in judicial custody last year.


• The CBI informed a city court that it would furnish more substantial evidence in the case. A status report on the ongoing investigation is expected to be submitted within a week.


• The joint trial in the assault and murder cases will commence on August 22.

• The insertion of India’s spacecraft to the moon, Chandrayaan-2, into the lunar orbit was a tense 30 minute operation, said ISRO Chairman K. Sivan.


• “It was a tense 30-minute operation. The tension and anxiety kept on building as the clock ticked. It was a great relief and joy when the Chandrayaan-2 was put into the lunar orbit successfully,” Sivan told IANS soon after the crucial operation.

• Jagannath Mishra, former Bihar chief minister and JD(U) i.e.,Janata Dal (United) leader passed away after battling cancer on August 19,2019. He was undergoing treatment in New Delhi and breathed his last there.


• Born on 24 June 1937, Mishra served as the chief minister of the state thrice. He was the last Congress chief minister of the state as well as a cabinet minister at the centre.
