• The state cabinet approved the draft Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Ordinance 2019 to bring private universities under the ambit of an umbrella act that provides for incorporating development of nationalism, social and international harmony, national integration, secularism and moral values among their objectives.


• The draft ordinance also provides for the private universities to commit that they would not indulge in any anti-national activity and not associate or allow any such activity on its campus.

• Unemployed youth having graduation or equivalent degree will be given unemployment allowance up to Rs 3,500 by the Rajasthan government, an official statement said.

• Local porters guided by a tribal hunter are set to help the Indian Air Force (IAF) retrieve the mortal remains of the 13 personnel on board its AN-32 transport aircraft that crashed on a remote mountainside in Arunachal Pradesh.


• The team, which will journey to the crash site on foot, will also bring back the rescue team of mountaineers who have been stranded there since being airdropped near the spot in the northeastern State’s Siang district about a week ago as well as the plane’s crucial data and voice recorders.

• An expert committee of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has suggested doubling collateral-free loans for these units.


• This should be applicable to Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (Mudra) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), too, the committee said.

• Karnataka Vikas Grameen Bank (KVGB), a regional rural bank headquartered in Dharwad, Karnataka, is targeting a business turnover of ₹28,000 crore for 2019-20.

• Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will honour Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar with ‘Distinguished Alumni Award’.
