• The Democratic Republic of Congo has confirmed the first case of Ebola in the eastern city of Goma, home to more than a million people.


• The health ministry confirmed that a pastor tested positive for the virus in a centre in Goma after arriving there by bus on Sunday.

• Uttar Pradesh govt. asked to suggest way out as judge is due to retire on Sept. 30


• The Supreme Court on July 15 asked the Uttar Pradesh government to suggest a way out after the sessions judge hearing the joint trial of the dual Babri Masjid demolition cases sought six months more to finish the case.


• On April 19, 2017, the Supreme Court gave the trial judge two years to complete the trial after reviving criminal conspiracy charges against BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders, including L.K. Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, and Uma Bharti, in connection with the demolition of the 16th-century mosque on December 6, 1992.

• The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has set a March 2020 deadline for completing the “Museum on Prime Ministers of India” in the Teen Murti Bhavan complex, which houses the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML), officials said.


• According to a senior official, the CPWD has chosen an agency for the facade works of the museum and its finishing, installation of lifts, escalators, CCTV and sewage treatment plants.

• The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019 is likely to be introduced in Lok Sabha on Monday by road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari.


• The Bill seeks to amend the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. Increasing penalties of traffic violations, address issues on third-party insurance, regulation of cab aggregators, road safety are among the changes proposed in the amendment.

• The financial services sector, led by non-banking lenders and housing finance companies (HFCs), was the largest overseas borrower in April-May period of the the current financial year amid tight liquidity conditions in the domestic market.

• Kolkata-headquartered state owned lender, Allahabad Bank, has reported a fraud of Rs 1774.82 crore by Bhushan Power & Steel to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).


• In a stock market notification, on July 13, the bank has alleged misappropriation of funds and manipulation in the books of accounts by Bhushan Power & Steel to raise money from a consortium of banks.

• We reiterate that since the stock has underperformed in recent times, the quarterly earnings definitely provide a short to medium term window for a stock rally, especially since earnings visibility is hazy elsewhere in the markets.

• Accenture Inc, a consulting and outsourcing services provider, appointed Julie Sweet as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) succeeding David Rowland. She is currently the CEO of Accenture’s business in North America. Before that, she was a partner for 10 years in the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP.


• David Rowland was appointed as Executive Chairman of Accenture. He is the current interim CEO of the company.

• The launch of India's second lunar mission has been halted less than an hour before the scheduled blast-off, due to a technical problem.


• The countdown stopped 56 minutes before the launch after a "technical snag was observed in the launch vehicle system," India's space agency said.


• The satellite had been scheduled for launch at 02:51 local time on Monday (21:21 GMT Sunday) from Sriharikota space station on India's eastern coast.
