  • On April 19, 2017, the Supreme Court gave the trial judge two years to complete the trial after reviving criminal conspiracy charges against BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders, including L.K. Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, and Uma Bharti, in connection with the demolition of the 16th-century mosque on December 6, 1992.

Financial sector is top overseas borrower - RBI

  • The financial services sector, led by non-banking lenders and housing finance companies (HFCs), was the largest overseas borrower in April-May period of the the current financial year amid tight liquidity conditions in the domestic market.

  • According to the RBI data on external commercial borrowings (ECBs), Indian corporates raised $6.7 billion in loans overseas (including via approval and automatic routes) in the first two months of FY20.

  • Kolkata-headquartered state owned lender, Allahabad Bank, has reported a fraud of Rs 1774.82 crore by Bhushan Power & Steel to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

  • In a stock market notification, on July 13, the bank has alleged misappropriation of funds and manipulation in the books of accounts by Bhushan Power & Steel to raise money from a consortium of banks.

  • The launch of India's second lunar mission has been halted less than an hour before the scheduled blast-off, due to a technical problem.

  • The countdown stopped 56 minutes before the launch after a "technical snag was observed in the launch vehicle system," India's space agency said.

  • The satellite had been scheduled for launch at 02:51 local time on Monday (21:21 GMT Sunday) from Sriharikota space station on India's eastern coast.
