BJP releases list of six candidates for Lok Sabha election 2019

  • The Bharatiya Janata Party released its 20th list of candidates for Lok Sabha election 2019.

  • The party named six candidates for the parliamentary election which includes Brijendra Singh for Hisar and Arvind Sharma for Rohtak - both constituencies going to vote in the sixth phase. G S Damor from Ratlam (ST) and Chattar Singh Darbar from Dhar (ST) were also named as candidates in Madhya Pradesh.

  • Both constituencies vote in the seventh phase while Bishnu Datt Sharma has been named from Khajuraho where voting would take place in the fifth phase.

Chennai Central loses longest railway station name title by a letter

  • Chennai Central Railway Station, officially called Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station, lost world's longest railway station name title by a letter, as per The Hindu.

Bank of Baroda expects to complete integration of Dena Bank, Vijaya Bank in two years

  • State-owned Bank of Baroda (BoB) is likely to complete the process of merger of Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank with it in two years, said a senior official of BoB. The merger of Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank with BoB became effective from [latex]1^{st}[/latex] April.

  • Information technology platform integration alone will take about 12 months and other processes and systems may take another year.

  • The process has been designed to ensure that there is minimum disruption of the customers during the transition period, the official said adding that the branding of the three entities will be retained in the interim period and will be transitioned to the new brand in a phased manner to ensure minimum disruption to existing operations.

Tamil Actor-Politician Ritheesh passes away

  • Actor and former Ramanathapuram MP JK Ritheesh passed away due to heart failure. He was 46. JK Ritheesh was last seen playing a role in RJ Balaji’s political satire LKG. He became an MP from Ramanathapuram after he was given a DMK ticket in the 2009 Lok Sabha Elections.
