• Uttar Pradesh has not published a single report mandatory under the RTI Act since the transparency law came into being in 2005 while Chhattisgarh is the only state which has brought out all its yearly reports, a voluntary group said.


• Transparency International India (TII) came out with its report on the eve of RTI Day, when the transparency regime started in the country on October 12, 14 years ago.


• The report analyses the functioning of 28 state information commissions in the country.

• Over 1,300 vehicles were left stranded as the Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed for traffic since last night due to a landslide in Ramban district, officials said.


• The 270-km highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country, was closed by a landslide triggered during the widening of the road near the first bridge in Ramban district on Thursday night, they said.

• The navies of India and Bangladesh will participate for the first time in a bilateral exercise at Visakhapatnam from October 12 to 16, the Navy said.


• The exercise would also include air familiarisation of Bangladesh Navy aircrew and a 10-day training exercise between Indian Navy Marine Commandos and BN SWADS, it said.


• The second edition of the Indian Navy (IN) and the Bangladesh Navy (BN) Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) commenced in the northern part of Bay of Bengal.

• The pilot of the helicopter carrying Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reportedly faced trouble while landing on muddy ground in neighbouring Raigad district.


• The incident, which was "not much serious", took place at Maharashtra's Pen Borgaon at 4.25 pm, said a local police official.

• Haryana has got 10 additional companies of Central Paramilitary Forces to better maintain law and order during the forthcoming assembly election, a senior police officer said.


• With this, the total number of central security forces deployed in the state went up to 130.


• The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has allocated two companies each of the CRPF and SSB, one of CISF and five companies of Karnataka IRB for the polls, senior police official (Law and Order) Navdeep Singh Virk said.

• Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in March this year, revised its evaluation scheme for class 12 students and proposed practical/internal component for subjects like Mathematics, Political Science, and Legal Studies.


• Until 2019, board exam for these subjects was conducted for 100 marks but from 2020 the theory paper in these subjects will carry only 80 marks and 20 marks have been assigned to internal assessment, project work, and practical.

• The registration process started on October 3 and will conclude on October 23, 2019.


• The Board will conduct the board examination in February-March next year. Close to 14 lakh students register for the Maharashtra Board HSC examination every year.

• AIIMS has extended the last date to complete the final registration process for the AIIMS PG entrance exam which will be conducted in January 2020.


• Earlier the last date to complete the process was October 11 which has now been extended to October 16, 2019.


• Consequently, all other application related activities have been pushed further.


• The status of the final registration (accepted or rejected) will be released on the AIIMS website on October 23, 2019. The last date to submit documents for the regularization of the rejected application is October 29, 2019.

• The Reserve Bank of India has introduced a new reporting system – the Central Information System for Banking Infrastructure (CISBI) – for all co-operative banks.


• Under this system, these banks are required to submit information pertaining to opening/closing/ conversion of branches, offices, non-administratively independent offices (extension counters, satellite offices), and customer service points (ATMs) in a single proforma online on the CISBI portal.
