• A bill to set up central Sanskrit universities was introduced in Lok Sabha. The bill, moved by Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ''Nishank'', seeks to convert three Sanskrit deemed universities presently functioning in the country into central universities.


• The three deemed universities are Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan and the Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth in New Delhi and the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth in Tirupati.

• The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), which conducts the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE or Class 10) and the Indian School Certificate (ISC or Class 12) examinations has released the date sheet for annual examinations officially today.


• Both ICSE date sheet and ISC date sheet have been release online on the official website, at cisce.org. The ICSE exams will start from February 27 while the ICS will begin from February 3.

• State Bank of India or SBI, the country's largest lender, has reduced its benchmark lending rates by 10 basis points or 0.10 percentage points across all tenors. The new rates mark the eight reduction by SBI in this financial year.


• SBI's marginal cost-based lending rate or MCLR, the rate to which all of its home loans are linked, currently stands at 7.90 per cent for the one-year tenor, according to SBI's website- sbi.co.in.
