Explanation [1-5]-

In alphabetical order
Direction(1-2): Study the following arrangement carefully and answer the questions.
A Q 2 K F & E 7 S 9 N M Z $ 6 % @ V L 8 * w 4 β 3 5 © E U # C
1. Which of the following is the ninth to the left of the eighteenth from the left end of the above arrangement?
    A. W B. N C. * D. S E. None of these

2. Four of the following five are alike in a certain way based on their positions in the above arrangement and so form a group. Which is the one that does not belong to that group?
    A. KE& B. SN9 C. M6$ D. 453 E. @8L

Direction(3-4): In these questions the symbols @, %, ©, $ and # are used with the following meaning as illustrated below.
‘P@Q’ means ‘P is neither smaller than nor equal to Q’. ‘P%Q’ means ‘P is neither greater than nor equal to Q’. ‘P ©Q’ means ‘P is not greater than Q’. ‘P$Q’ means ‘P is not smaller than Q’. ‘P#Q’ means ‘P is neither smaller than nor greater than Q’
Each of these questions has three statements followed by two conclusions numbered I and II. Assuming the given statements to be true, find which conclusion is definitely true:
3. Statements: 1. F $ N 2. N @ D 3. D % B Conclusion I : F @ D Conclusion II : B @ N
    A. Either conclusion I or II follows B. Only conclusion I follow C. Neither conclusion I nor II follows D. Only conclusion II follows E. Both conclusions I and II follow.

4. Statements: 1. W # D 2. D © B 3. B $ H Conclusion I : H # D Conclusion II : B % W

    A. 8 B. 10 C. 15 D. 11 E. 24

Answers and Explanations
1. Answer - Option D
Explanation -
9th to the left of 18th from the left = (18 – 9 =) 9th from the left = S
2. Answer - Option B
Explanation -
In all others, the second element comes three positions .after the first in the given arrangement.
3. Answer - Option B
Explanation -
P@Q means P > Q
P%Q means P < Q
P ©Q means P ≤ Q
P$Q means P ≥ Q
P#Q means P = Q
Statements are: F ≥ N > D < B
Conclusions are:
F > D
B > N
Conclusion I is correct. Conclusion II can’t be true because both are related by opposite signs.
Hence Option B is correct
4. Answer - Option C
Explanation -
P@Q means P > Q
P%Q means P < Q
P ©Q means P ≤ Q
P$Q means P ≥ Q
P#Q means P = Q
Statements are:
W = D ≤ B ≥ H
Conclusions are:
H = D
B < W
There can be no relation between H and D as both are related by opposite signs.
B < W also does not hold true because B ≥ W.
Hence Option C is correct
5. Answer - Option D
Explanation -

5. Choose the alternative which is closely resembles the mirror image of the given combination.
    A. 1 B. 2 C. 2 D. 4 E. None of these

Answers and Explanations
1. Answer - Option A
Explanation -
E is mamed to A or D. But B is marned to D. Thus, E is married to A.
Thus, A, B, C, D, E are the four adults and C, F, G are the three children in the family. B and D have a child G. A and E have two children. They are C and F Now. only F and G are girls.
So, C is a boy. Thus, C is A's or E's son.
2. Answer - Option D
Explanation -
D is father of A and grandfather of F. So, A is father of F.
Thus. D and A are the two fathers. C is the sister of F So. C is the daughter of A.
Since there is only one mother, it is evident that E is the wife of A and hence the mother of C and F.
So, B is brother of A There are three brothers. So. F is the brother of C.
Clearly, A is E's Husband.
3. Answer - Option C
Explanation -
Radha: May 8, Thursday
Geeta: May 10, Thursday
Revathi: June 8, Friday
We know that April [latex]{1}^{st}[/latex] = Tuesday
⇒ May [latex]{1}^{st}[/latex] = Tuesday + Remainder of [latex]\frac {30}{7}[/latex] = Tuesday + 2days = Thursday.
Also, May [latex]{1}^{st}[/latex] = Thursday
⇒ May [latex]{8}^{th}[/latex] = Thursday
Also, June [latex]{8}^{th}[/latex] = Thursday + Remainder of [latex]\frac {31}{7}[/latex] = Thursday + 3 days = Sunday
⇒ Revathi is wrong.
Also, May [latex]{10}^{th}[/latex] = May 8 + 2 days = Thursday + 2 days = Saturday
⇒ Geeta is also wrong.
Hence, only Radha is correct.
Hence, correct date is May 8, Thursday.
4. Answer - Option B
Explanation -
As MANSON is a 6 letter word so its code is 6 – 1 = 5
Similarly BELIEVED is a 8 letter word and its code is 8 – 1 = 7
Based on the similar pattern NEGOTIABLE is a 10 letter word so its code is 10 – 1 = 9
5. Answer - Option A
