Model 1: Study the following data deliberately to answer the questions given underneath: (Bank P.O. 2006)
Following are the capabilities for a specific post in a reputed organization.
The applicant must -
(a) be an Engineering graduate with at least 60% marks;
(b) be at least 21 years and not over 25 years old as on 1.5.2006;
(c) have passed through the determination test with no less than 55% marks;
(d) be willing pay a store of Rs. 50,000, to be discounted on consummation of training.
However, if a candidate fulfills the above mentioned criteria except:
(i) At (a) above, yet has showed up for the last semester examination and has acquired a total of least 65% marks in initial seven semesters, his/her case might be referred to the V.P. of the organization;
(ii) At (d) above, however will pay a measure of at any rate Rs. 25000 and has gotten no less than 70% marks at Engineering degree, the case possibly referred to the General Manager of the organization.
In each of the accompanying questions, points of interest of the applicant are given as respects his/her candidature. You need to read the data gave and choose his/her status in view of the conditions given above and the data gave. 1. Amelia is an IT engineer went out in 2003 with 52% marks. After getting the designing degree, she has done MBA with specialization in Finance. She has cleared the determination test with 60% imprints. She can pay the store of Rs. 50000. Her date of birth is fifteenth September, 1982.
2. John is an understudy of Mechanical Engineering and has showed up for the last semester examination. Results of the last semester examination are normal one month from now. He is hoping to score 65% imprints in the last semester as his total rate of the initial seven semesters is 67%. 5. Alex has appeared for the last semester examination of Mechanical Engineering and the results are awaited. He secured first class in each of the first seven semesters. He has recently completed 22 years of age. He has no problem in paying the required amount of Rs. 50,000 as deposit. He has passed the selection test with 58% marks.
Solution:
Clearly, the candidate is:
A. to be selected if he filfulls each one of the conditions a, b, c and d;
B. to be referred to the G.M., if he fulfills a, b, c and (ii);
C. to be referred to the V.P., if he fulfills (i), b, c and d;
E. not to be selected, if he does not fulfill any of the conditions a or (i), b, c and d or (ii).
If the data pertaining to any of these conditions is missing, the answer should be D i.e. data inadequate.
1. Since Amelia is having only 52% in Engineering, she is not selected as condition (a) is not satisfied.

2. Since Mr. John fulfils conditions (i), b, c and d, so his case is to be decided by V.P. of the organisation.

Model 2: Study the following information carefully to answer the questions given below: (R.B.I. 2003)
Following criteria have been laid down for admission to an Anti-Terrorist Defensive Course of Indian Army.
The candidate must
A. have passed graduation with Science subjects (B.Sc.) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (Second Class). For SC/ST candidates, there is a relaxation of 5%.
B. have completed 19 years of age in case of females and 20 years of age in case of males on or before 1st January, 2003.
C. pay deposit of Rs. 25,000 along with the application form if the applicant has passed graduation in Second Class.
However, if the applicant has secured more than 75% marks at graduation, the deposit amount would be Rs. 15,000 and if the marks are above 60% but below 75%, the deposit amount will be Rs. 20,000. If the candidate is a son or daughter of the serving or ex-defense staff member, the amount of deposit will be 50% of that applicable to others, keeping the merit criteria the same.
D. For SC/ST candidates, the deposit amount is 20% of that applicable to non-staff relation candidates and the condition of marks for each slab described above in (C) is relax-able by 5%.
E. If a candidate fulfills the criteria at (A) and (B) but can pay at least three-fourths amount of applicable deposit, he/she may be provisionally admitted.
F. If a candidate who is eligible under (A) and (B) criteria, can pay at least half of the applicable deposit, the case can be referred to the Commander-in-Chief.
G. The candidates who are eligible under the criteria (A) and (B) but cannot pay even half of the applicable deposit cannot be admitted.

3. Sahil, born on 23rd February, 1979, has passed his B.Sc. with 63% marks. He is ready to pay a maximum of Rs. 11,000 as deposit. he belongs to ST category.
4. Born on 30th June, 1982, Sakshi, the daughter of a professor in a Medical College, has done her B.Sc. with 79% marks. she can pay a maximum of Rs. 11,000 as deposit.

Following are the conditions for selecting Deputy Personnel Managers in an organisation:
The candidate must
A. be a graduate in any subject with at least 60% marks.
B. be at least 25 years and not more than 35 years old as on 1.6.2006.
C. have post-qualification work experience of at least four years in the Personnel department in an organisation.
D. have obtained post-graduate degree/diploma in management with at least 55% marks.
E. have secured at least 50% marks in interview.
In the case of a candidate who satisfies all the criteria except –
(i) At 1) above, but has secured at least 65% marks in post-graduate degree diploma in management, his/her case is to be referred to VP-Personnel.

5. Lakshya patel has secured 52% marks in the interview. He has been working in the personnel department of an organization for the past five years after completing his post-graduate degree in management with 66% marks. He was born on 16th August, 1977. He has secured 58% marks in graduation.
Solution:
1. The candidate fulfils all the conditions of eligibility.

3. The candidate satisfies all the criteria except at (C) but has post qualification work experience of three years, so her case is to be referred to SVP-personnel.

Following are the conditions for drawing a list of suitable candidates to be called for interview after a written test for recruitment is conducted for supervisory-level persons for a reputed company providing software and services. The candidate must -
A. be holding a degree in basic science with 60% or above or engineering degree with 45% and above marks.
B. have passed the written examination with 65% or above marks.
C. be in the age group of 24 years to 30 years as on 1.4.2007
D. have experience in a computer company for a minimum period of 3 years after having obtained diploma in computer with 60% or above marks.
E. be presently drawing a monthly salary of Rs. 8000 and above.
In the case of a candidate who satisfies all the criteria except –
