Antonyms

Antonyms are the words that are opposite in meaning to the given words. Example: 'Question' is the word. Its antonym is 'answer'.

Antonyms questions are categorized into three types. They are:-
    1. Choosing the correct antonym of the given word. 2. Choosing the antonym of a word used in a sentence. 3. Filling the blanks with antonym of the italicized word.

1. Choosing the correct antonym of the given word:
In this category, four or five options are followed by a word. Choose the correct antonym for the given word from the given options.
Example: The correct antonym of RECEDE is ADVANCE.
2. Choosing the antonym of a word used in a sentence:
In this category, an italicized word in a sentence is given. Some options are given below it. Required to select that word which is opposite in meaning to the given italicized word.
Example: Many people try to resist reforms in the society. Choose the correct antonym from below for the given italicized word:
    a) fight b) repel c) welcome d) accept

Answer: Welcome is the correct word.
3. Filling the blanks with antonym of the italicized word:
In this category, an italicized word in a sentence is given followed by four alternatives. Select the correct word for the italicized word and fill in the blank provided to make it meaningful sentence.
Example: What one considers ....... may be vice to another. Choose the word opposite to the italicized word and fill in the blank provided:
    a) virtue b) goodness c) courtesy d) kindness

Answer: virtue is the correct word.
