• Dr Jitendra Singh (Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER)) has inaugurated the ‘Destination North East’ Festival in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
• All 8 North-East states have been presented at the event along with their handicrafts, handloom, organic products and cultural troupes.
• The visitors will have live experiences of the artisans and artists from the NE states working on their looms and crafts, performing their songs and dances in the open stage during the day.
• Indigenous games will also be performed where visitors can also participate.

• Chhattisgarh government has announced that the state is set to have Guru Ghasidas National Park in Kotiya district as its fourth ‘tiger reserve’.
• This decision was taken in 11th meeting of Chhattisgarh State Wildlife Board chaired by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
• The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) had approved to declare Guru Ghasidas National Park as a tiger reserve in 2014.
• At present there are three tiger reserves in state: 1) Achanakmar Tiger Reserve in Bilaspur. 2) Udanti-Sitanadi Tiger Reserve in Gariaband, 3) Indravati Tiger Reserve in Bijapur district.

• The first-ever Prosperity & Inclusion City Seal and Awards (PICSA) Index, released in the Basque Country capital of Bilbao in northern Spain.
• The Index is designed to showcase not only the quantity of economic growth of a city but also its quality and distribution across populations.
• Bangalore stood at 83rd rank, while Delhi and Mumbai ranked 101 and 107 among 113 cities in the world in terms of economic and social inclusivity.
• Zurich (number-1) scores strongly across all measures, particularly on the quality of life, work, housing, leisure, safety, and education - with the Swiss higher education system attaining an especially high score.
• Austrian capital (number- 2) scores close to top marks on healthcare. Copenhagen, Luxembourg and Helsinki complete the top five.

• The researchers of the University of Gothenburg in Sweden have developed a potential Diarrhea vaccine.
• Science journal, The Lancet, reports that it has been proved safe and effective in an early-stage clinical trial in Bangladesh.
• The report said that 80 to 100 per cent of the children aged two to five years and 50 to 80 per cent of infants aged six to eleven months, selected for the study responded to all key immunity generating components of the vaccine.
• There is no vaccine yet for use for children and vaccine development for Diarrhea is a World Health Organization priority.

• Manoj Bajpayee has bagged the Best Performance by an Actor Award at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards for his role in ‘Bhonsle.’
• The Hindi feature ‘Bhonsle’ narrates the story of a police constable (Bajpayee), who tries to fight the struggles of migrants and their battles with the local politicians.
