FIFA, Federation Internationale de Football Association, is an international association and governing body of association football, fútsal, beach soccer, and eFootball. FIFA was founded in 1904 and is currently headquartered in Zürich. FIFA is responsible for the organization of football's major international tournaments, primarily the Men's World Cup which commenced in 1930 and the Women's World Cup which commenced in 1991.
After its inception, FIFA was primarily responsible for supervising international competition among the national associations of Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. FIFA now comprises of 211 national associations. Member countries must each also be members of one of the six regional confederations into which the world is divided: Africa, Asia, Europe, North & Central America and the Caribbean, Oceania, and South America.
International Football Association Board controls the rules of football and FIFA is mainly responsible for both the organization of a number of tournaments and their promotion, which generate revenue from sponsorship.

The FIFA World Cup has taken place every four years, except in 1942 and 1946, when the competition was cancelled due to the world war-II. FIFA World Cup is a game of 90 minutes of regular play, if the score is a draw, an additional 30-minute period of play is given and it called extra time. If the is still tied after extra time it is decided by kicks from the penalty mark, commonly called a penalty shootout. The winning penalty shoot-out team is then declared champion.
The 20 World Cup tournaments have been won by eight national teams. Brazil has won five times, and they are the only team to have played in every tournament.
