Introduction
The Engineering Community across India celebrates Engineers Day on 15 September every year as a tribute to the greatest Indian Engineer Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshvaraya KCIE, FASc is popularly known as Sir MV was an Indian engineer, scholar, statesman, and the [latex]{19}^{th}[/latex] Diwan of Mysore, who served from 1912 to 1919. He received India's highest honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1955.

- Visvesvaraya is credited with inventing the block system, automated doors that close the water overflows. He designed and patented the floodgates which were first installed at the Khadakwasla reservoir in Pune in 1903.
