Time management is vital in obtaining a good score in any competitive exam. Thus, knowledge of the Exam Pattern, Exam Syllabus and primarily Exam Duration is very crucial to increase efficiency, accuracy, productivity and primarily to be able to complete the exams in the allotted exam duration.
The SSC CGL Recruitment selection process has Four phases. The first two phases (Tier-I exam and Tier-II exam) are written exams (conducted online). The third phase is a Descriptive test and the fourth phase is Skill test conducted by a selection panel.

• The duration of the SSC CGL Tier-I examination is 1 hour, but, the candidates may be required to be at the venue for about 2 hours or more : for completion of formalities such as verification and collection of various requisite documents, logging in, giving of instructions, etc.
  
• The reporting time mentioned on the call letter is prior to the Start time of the test.


• The duration of the SSC CGL Tier-II examination is 6 hours, but, the candidates may be required to be at the venue for about 7 hours or more for completion of formalities such as verification and collection of various requisite documents, logging in, giving of instructions, etc.
