RRB JE General Science

shape Introduction

RRB JE 2018-19 – First Stage CBT, conducted in online Mode, has: a duration of 1 hour 30 minutes [120 Minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied with Scribe], a maximum score of 100 marks and consists of 4 sections, namely – Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness and General Science. The 4 sections are not separately timed. There is a Negative marking in RRB JE First Stage CBT and 1/3rd marks are deducted for each wrong answer. The below sections gives the detailed information about RRB JE General Science.

shape Pattern

Subjects No. of Questions Marks for each Section Duration
Stage-I
Mathematics 30 30 90 minutes [Note: 120 Minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied with Scribe]

1. Which among the following is not true for a plane mirror

    A. Image is always formed at infinity. B. Image formed by a plane mirror is always virtual C. Image formed is always erect. D. Lateral inversion always takes place in a plane mirror

Answer : Option (A)
Solution : The image is formed by a plane mirror is always at the same distance behind the mirror as the object is in front of the mirror.
2. Harry is standing in front of a plane mirror at a distance of 6 m. His image on the other side will form at a distance of

    A. 6 m B. 12 m C. 9 m D. 3 m

Answer : Option (A)
Solution : For reflection through a plane mirror, Image distance (v) = Object distance (u) = 6 m
3. Which among the following is true for a plane mirror

    A. Angle of incidence is the angle between incident ray and the mirror surface. B. Angle of incidence is the angle between the reflected ray and the incident ray. C. Angle of incidence is always equal to angle of reflection. D. Angle of incidence is not always equal to angle of reflection

Answer : Option (C)
Solution : According to the law of reflection, the angle of incidence is always equal to the angle of reflection. Also, an angle of incidence is the angle between the incident ray and the normal to the reflecting surface.
4. A virtual image is formed when

    A. light rays meet on the back side of the mirror. B. light rays do not actually meet at a point, but appear C. light rays converge. D. light rays actually meet at a point.

Answer : Option (B)
5. Which of the following correctly represents the nature of an image formed by a plane mirror

    A. Erect, virtual and of the same size B. Erect, virtual, diminished C. Erect, real and diminished D. Erect, virtual and magnified

Answer : Option (A)
Solution : he image formed by a plane mirror is erect, virtual and of the same size as that of the object.
6. Which information is not conveyed by a balanced chemical equation

    A. Physical states of reactants and products B. Symbols and formula of all the substances involved in a particular reaction C. Number of atoms/molecules of the reactants and products formed D. Whether a particular reaction is actually feasible or not

Answer : Option (D)
7. Chemically rust is

    A. hydrated ferrous B. only ferric oxide C. hydrated ferric oxide D. none of these

Answer : Option (C)
8. The reaction in which two compound exchange their ions to form two new compounds is called

Answer : Option (C)
9. Rancidity can be prevented by

    A. adding antioxidants B. storing food away from light C. keeping food in refrigerator D. all of these

Answer : Option (D)
10. When a magnesium ribbon is burnt in air, the ash formed is

    A. black B. white C. yellow D. pink

Answer : Option (B)
11. In human body, group formed by neurons enclosed in membrane at certain body parts is called

    A. benign B. malign C. ganglion D. neurological

Answer : Option (C)
12. Considering lobes of cerebral cortex, lobe which is involved in movement of speech and control skeletal muscles is called

    A. occipital lobe B. temporal lobe C. parietal lobe D. frontal lobe

Answer : Option (D)
13. Considering spinal and cranial nerves, pathway which conducts impulses to effectors from central nervous system is classified as

    A. parietal pathways B. sensory pathways C. motor pathways D. temporal pathways

Answer : Option (C)
14. In neuron, cytoplasm and nucleus is located in

    A. papillary glands B. cell body C. endocrine system D. nerve impulses

Answer : Option (B)
15. Parasympathetic system and sympathetic system are two systems of

    A. central nervous system B. reflexive nervous system C. autonomic nervous system D. ventral nervous system

Answer : Option (C)
