GRE Test ID Requirements
When one register for a GRE General Test, he/she required to provide identification (ID) information. The name must be exactly as it appears on the primary identification document while registering (excluding accents) that he/she plan to present at the test center. The test taker cannot use a supplemental ID to resolve name discrepancies.
Candidates are responsible for bringing valid and acceptable identification each time they report to a test center. It is his/her responsibility to ensure that the ID documents are up-to-date and available on the day of the test.
Note:
✦ If a test taker fail to bring valid and acceptable ID, or if the name on the ID does not exactly match the name on their registration (excluding accents), he/she will not be permitted to test and the test fee will not be refunded.
✦ The ID requirements depend on where one plan to test and their country of citizenship.

Following are the list of ID requirement instructions by ETS.
- The ID must not be expired and should be valid.
- The ID must be original.
- The ID should be neat and clean with clear photograph of the candidate.
- The ID should contain candidate signature.
- Photocopies of an ID are not accepted.
- International driving license, draft classification cards, credit/debit cards, student ID’s are not accepted.
- Birth certificate, social security cards, Employee ID card, any temporary ID, diplomatic, embassy or consulate ID cards are also not accepted by ETS.
