During the probation period, you can be asked to perform any kind of bank related activity. It can be clerical or a managerial type of role. The reason for such type of diversity in work is to get you acquaintable to various working procedures of the bank.
One more responsibility is to work as Public Relations Officer. The PO needs to handle customer complaints and addresses various customer related issues. Matters such as
- Discrepancies in Accounts
- Rectification of Undue Charges
- Looking into the complaints regarding services provided by the Bank
The work of an SBI PO also includes Managerial tasks such as
- Supervising Clerical Work
- Taking Decisions for the Benefit of the Bank
- Managing Cash Balance in the Bank
The SBI PO roles and responsibilities also includes issuing of ATM cards, cheque books and demand drafts.
A PO should be aware of all the latest developments in the Bank. They are required to read all the circulars and should know all the decisions taken by the bank management.
After you gain enough experience
Once you gain enough experience on the Bank’s working procedures during your probation, you can be assigned more responsible work. These include tasks like
- Planning
- Budgeting
- Marketing
- Loan Processing & Approval
- Investment Management
