Candidates must ensure that they fulfill the prescribed Medical Standards for the post(s) they are opting for.
Medical Standards for the Posts
Candidates called for document verification will have to pass requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post(s) opted by them. Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of railway staff. The medical standards are outlined below:

3. What is the age limit for under graduate level posts in NTPC 2019?
For 7th CPC Level-2 and 3 (Under Graduate Level Posts), candidates between age group (as on 01.07.2019) 18-30 years can apply.

5. I am in my last year of graduation. Can I apply for NTPC 2019 Recruitment?
No, Candidates waiting for final results of prescribed educational qualifications should not apply.
6. Can I apply for different zones for different posts?
No, You can only apply from one zone only.
7. What is the minimum qualification to apply for the undergraduate posts?
The minimum educational qualification apply for the undergraduate posts is 12th (+2 Stage) or its equivalent examination and the age should be between 18 to 30 Years as on 01.07.2019.
8. What is the minimum qualification for a Traffic Assistant post?
You should have the minimum educational qualification of a University Degree or its equivalent and the age should be between 18 to 33 Years as on 01.07.2019.
9. I am waiting for my final results, can I apply?
No! Candidates waiting for final results of prescribed educational qualification should not apply.
10. I want to apply for Junior Clerk cum Typist as well as Accounts Clerk cum Typist? Can I do so?
Yes! If the candidate is eligible for more than one post based on his/ her educational qualification and other details furnished, he/ she must set the priority/preferences for these posts. The list of posts (in the chosen RRB) for which a candidate is eligible is displayed. Similarly, if the chosen RRB has vacancies for more than one Railway/ Production Unit, then vacancies for all such Railways/ Production Units for which a candidate is eligible, will be listed out. The candidate should fill their priority/ preferences number in the textbox against each post that they are eligible for, in the RRB they are applying to.
11. What is the upper limit of date of birth for an SC/ST?
The upper limit of date of birth for an SC/ST is 02.07.1984.
12. What is the relaxation in the upper age limit of an ex-servicemen candidates (belonging to the unreserved category) who have put in more than 6 months service after attestation?
The relaxation is 30 Years plus Number of years of service rendered in Defence plus 3 years.
13. What is the Minimum Educational Qualification for a Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist?
The Minimum Educational Qualification for a Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist is Degree from recognised University or its equivalent. Typing proficiency in English/ Hindi on Computer is essential.
1. When can I apply for NTPC 2019?
You can apply for NTPC 2019 from 1st March 2019 to 31st March 2019.
2. What is the application fee and will I get a refund?
UR & OBC: Rs. 500/- Out of this fee of Rs.500/-, an amount of Rs.400/- shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges, on appearing in First Stage CBT.

3. Can I modify my application form after submission?
  • The RRB opted for, email id and mobile number cannot be changed.

  • After final submission of ONLINE application, in case the candidates wish to make minor changes to correct inadvertent errors in the application, can be done by paying the modification fee of Rs.100 (Non-Refundable).

  • In the case of a candidate modifying his community from SC/ ST to UR or OBC, he will have to pay the difference in examination fee i.e. Rs.250 in addition to the modification fee. In case of failure to do so, his modified application will not be accepted.

  • Similarly, if a candidate is switching from Ex.SM/ PwBD/ Female/ Transgender to UR/ OBC (NCL)/ Non Ex.SM/ Non PwBD/ Male etc., he will have to pay the difference in examination fee i.e. Rs.250 in addition to the modification fee. In case of failure to do so, his modified application will not be accepted.

  • The modification to the registration and application details can be done for maximum two times only.

  • 4. Can I change my mobile number or e-mail after submitting the application?
    No! RRBs will send all recruitment related communications only through SMS and email till the recruitment is completely over and you will not be able to change the mobile number or your email.
    5. Can I send the printouts of the application via post?
    No! Candidates need not send printouts of application or certificates or copies to the RRBs concerned by post.
    6. Is it important to fulfill the prescribed medical standards for the post I am applying for?
    Yes! Candidates called for document verification will have to pass requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post(s) opted by them.
    7. Will the CBT happen in my own city?
    Center/ City allocation for CBTs will depend upon technical and logistical feasibility. Candidates may have to travel to other Cities/ States for attending CBTs.
    8. I want to change my exam centre? How can I do so?
    No! Request for the change of Exam Centre will not be allowed under any circumstance.
    9. Can I apply for more than one post?
    Yes, If the candidate is eligible for more than one post based on his/ her educational qualification and other details furnished, he/ she must set the priority/ preferences for these posts.     10. For those who appear CBT1 will there be any refund in the Examination Fee?
    An amount of Rs. 400 will be refunded duly deducted bank charges on appearing in 1st stage CBT.
    11. What is the exam fee for PwBD and will there be any kind of refund from this amount?
    For PwBD, the exam fee is Rs 250 which will be refunded duly deducted bank charges on appearing in 1st stage CBT.
    12. I have to pay the fee offline, what is the procedure to do so?

    1. What is the selection process of RRB NTPC 2019?
    The selection process includes the following stages:
      1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) Typing Skill Test/ Computer Based Aptitude Test (as applicable) Document Verification/ Medical Examination.

    2. I would like to know the exam pattern of 1st stage CBT?
    The 1st Stage CBT consist of multiple choice 100 questions, would be of 90 Minutes duration and will consist of 3 sections as follows:

    3. How many questions will be there in General Awareness in CBT2? Are the number of questions same as of CBT1?
    There will be 50 questions in CBT2 of General Awareness unlike CBT1 which has 40 questions.

    The 2nd Stage CBT consist of multiple choice 120 questions, would be of 90 Minutes duration and will consist of 3 sections as follows:

    1. Aptitude Test is applicable to which posts of NTPC (Graduate) Exam. against CEN No. 01/2019?
    Aptitude Test is applicable to the post of Traffic Assistant and Station Master.
    2. What will be the mode of Aptitude Test?
    Aptitude Test will be conducted only in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
    3. Whether original Medical Certificate by Eye Specialist is compulsory to appear in Aptitude Test?
    Yes. As per CEN No. 01/2019, candidates should produce the Vision Certificate in the prescribed format in original during CBAT, failing which they will not be permitted to appear in the CBAT.
    4. How many times of the vacancies, candidates will be shortlisted for Aptitude Test?
    Candidates equal to 8 times the number of vacancies of Station Master (SM)/ Traffic Assistant (TA) for each of the communities i.e. UR, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and EWS (including ExSM) shall be short listed for CBAT based on their performance in 2nd Stage CBT from among the candidates who have opted for the post of SM/ TA.
    5. How the merit will be drawn for the post of Traffic Assistant and Station Master?
    The SM/TA merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the CBAT, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the 2nd Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in CBAT.
    6. What documents the candidate is required to bring for appearing in the Aptitude Test?
    (i) E-Call letter for the Aptitude Test, (ii) a recent passport size colour photograph (to be pasted on RRB counter foil of E-Call letter), (iii) original Medical Certificate on prescribed proforma to be issued by Eye Specialist with his signature and stamp along with pasting of a recent passport size colour photograph of the candidate on specified place and attested by Eye Specialist, (iv) original valid photo Identification Card. No other document/ item is allowed inside the Exam Venue.
    7. What is the prescribed proforma for the Medical Certificate?
    The prescribed proforma for the Medical Certificate to be given by Eye Specialist is mentioned in CEN No. 01/2019, a copy of which will be available along with E-Call Letter.
    8. Whether second chance may be given to the candidates who remained absent in Aptitude Test?
    No.
    1. Typing Skill Test is applicable to which posts of RRB NTPC against CEN No. 01/2019?
    Typing Skill Test is applicable for the posts Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Time Keeper.
    2. What will be the mode of Typing Skill Test?
    Typing Skill Test will be conducted only on Computer to be provided by RRBs with disabling editing tools and spell check facility. KrutiDev & Mangal font shall be made available for candidates appearing Typing Skill Test in Hindi.
    3. What is the minimum speed requirement in Typing Skill Test?
    The minimum speed requirement in Typing Skill Test is 30 Word Per M inute in English or 25 Words Per Minute in Hindi.
    4. What documents the candidate is required to bring for appearing in the Typing Skill Test?
      (i) E-Call letter for the Typing Skill Test, (ii) a recent passport size colour photograph (to be pasted on RRB counter foil of E-Call letter), (iii) original valid photo Identification Card.

    5. Who is exempted from Typing Skill Test and what document should be submitted for the exemption?
    Exemption in Typing Skill Test may be extended to candidates who are permanently disabled due to Blindness/Low Vision, Cerebral Palsy & Loco Motor Disability with not less than 40% permanent disability. Such eligible PwBD candidates have to upload a scanned copy of Typing Skill Test Exemption Certificate issued by the Competent Medical Board in the website of respective RRBs before conduct of typing skill test in the format.
    6. How many times of vacancies candidates will be shortlisted for Typing Skill Test?
    Typing Skill Test (TST) of qualifying nature (marks obtained in typing skill test shall not be added for making merit) shall be conducted for which the number of candidates equal to eight times the number of vacancies for each of the community shall be called for.
    7. How the merit will be drawn for the post of Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Time Keeper?
    The merit will be drawn only for the candidates qualified in the TST or TST exempted PwBD candidates based on performance in 2nd Stage CBT.
    8. Whether a candidate will be given a chance to rehearse themselves before actual Typing Skill Test in the Exam Hall?
    Yes.
    9. Whether second chance may be given to the candidates who remained absent in Typing Skill Test?
    No.
    1. How will we receive the call letters?
    Candidates will have to download the City and Date Intimations, e-Call Letters and Travel Authority (wherever applicable) from the links provided on the official websites of RRBs.
    2. The website is not loading and I am unable to login to my account. What should I do?
    Wait for some time and try again. This problem happens when the Internet connection is weak or when too many people are on the website at the same time.
    3. The details provided on my admit card is incorrect. What should I do?
    Contact the RRB official authority directly.
    4. The website is not accepting my Application Number / Registration Number. What should I do?
    You might have entered the wrong Registration Number. Check the inbox of your registered mail ID/phone number for the correct Registration ID. If the problem persists, contact the official authorities.
    5. Will my admit card be issued for the Main exam if I don’t clear the Prelims?
    No, from Mains till the Document Verification process, admit cards will be issued only for those who have cleared the previous stage of RRB NTPC exam.
    1. Is there any negative marking in CBT stage 1 and 2?
    There shall be negative marking for incorrect answer in CBTs. Deduction of 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question shall be made for each wrong answer.
    2. How many candidates will be shortlisted for 2nd stage CBT?
    The candidates shortlisted for 2nd stage CBT will be 20 times the number of vacancies.
    3. How many candidates will be shortlisted for Computer based Aptitude Test OR Typing Skill Test?
    Candidates shortlisted for Typing Skill Test OR Computer based Aptitude Test(as applicable) will be 8 times the number of vacancies.
    4. Is there normalization of marks?
    Yes, marks will be normalized for all the stages of exam.
    5. I want to know the initial pay for a commercial cum ticket clerk?
    The initial pay for a commercial cum ticket clerk is Rs. 21,700.
    6. I want to know the initial pay for Station Master?
    The initial pay for a Station Master is 35,400.
    7. What are the banned items that can’t be carried inside the exam hall?
    Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, blue tooth, pen drive, laptops, calculators, wrist watches or any other communication devices or pen/pencil, wallet/purses, belts, shoes and metallic wears including ornaments etc. are strictly not allowed inside the exam hall. Any infringement of this instruction shall entail summary rejection besides legal action including debarment from future examinations. Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the banned items including mobile phones etc. to the venue of the examination, as arrangements for safe keeping cannot be assured.
