OICL AO Roles & Responsibilities: The Oriental Insurance Company Ltd. is a pioneer in laying down systems for the smooth and orderly conduct of the business. It made a modest beginning with a first-year premium of Rs.99, 946 in 1950.


The goal of the Company is “Service to clients” and achievement thereof was helped by the strong traditions built over time. Its Head Office is in New Delhi. It has 31 Regional Offices and nearly 1800+ operating Offices in various cities of India.
Released the notification for the recruitment of 300 Officers in Scale I cadre (Administrative Officer). One of the most anticipated exams of the year apart from other AO exams and this is the next most preferred post after banking sector jobs.
Job profile of an Administrative Officer in the insurance company is almost similar to that of a PO (officer) in govt bank. The major differences, though can be seen in salary, responsibilities & work environment.

An Administrative Officer in OICL is an authoritative post where decision-making is involved for the person recruited as an AO. The major work is related to insurance policies, health, motor vehicles, industrial, accident, fire etc. Below mentioned are the roles & responsibilities of an AO.
  • AO is responsible for the smooth running of the departments within the organization.
  • The AO verify the risk proposals and authorization of claims.
  • Meeting the Prospective clients as a representative of OICL.
  • Settlement of the Insurance Claims.
  • Promotion of Policies and acquiring Clients.
  • Procurement of various Businesses.
  • Implementation of the plans and acquiring formal feedback for the company.
  • Handling of Policy Claims.
  • Looking after the issuance of the Insurance Policies.
  • Management of other assistants at the workplace.
  • Filing of returns and Statements to Higher regional offices.

Probation Period 1 Year
Condition From the Date of Joining the Duty
Extension (Not mandatory) Can be Extended Twice (Six months), Stretching upto One Year
Should Pass : Non Life “Licentiate Examination conducted by Insurance Institute of India
If Failed : Liable to be terminated from service on expiry of the period after the extended probation period
