shape Job Role

  • Official work of a candidate who has cleared the DRDO MTS exams includes creating a soft copy of the documents by scanning, photocopying or typing the information available in them.

  • The official work also includes filing of official documents and verification of stock.

  • The candidates are held responsible for the physical maintenance of all the records of the department.

  • They need to keep various sections/units and premises of DRDO clean.

  • The candidates need to assist in various sections such as science labs, departmental stores, libraries, canteens, pathology (including physiotherapy and nursing), etc.

  • They are also expected to assist in cleaning lab equipment, glass items, etc.

  • Some candidates who have a driving license can be assigned the task of driving.

  • Employees selected for the positions of DRDO MTS will have to assist while testing any material or they might have to assist on the shop floor as well.

  • They need to support the loading and unloading of heavy equipment and jobs on the bed of the machines.

  • They need to handle chemicals, equipment, and tools or they can be asked to manage the entire store.

  • A candidate can be asked to operate a crane if he is capable to do so.

  • Sending official faxes and emails is an integral part of their duties.

  • Apart from these duties, any other non-official work can be assigned to them. Also, the candidates will have to adhere to any other duty assigned by the superior authority of the department.
Let’s do a quick recap of the major responsibilities:
  • Guarding the premises or keeping strict vigilance on any section, i.e Watch and Ward duties

  • Opening and closing various rooms of the department in the stipulated time.

  • Carrying documents from one section to another physically, from one building to another inside the premises

  • Delivering Dak outside the building

  • All nonclerical work in the section/ unit

  • Packing and keeping track of store materials, etc.

  • Duties such as maintaining labs, parks, plants, lawns, trees, etc.

  • Maintaining vehicles and machines; greasing/ oiling of machine/ A & B vehicles.

  • Cleaning the fixtures, decor, dusting furniture, etc.

  • Any other work related to the ITI qualification of a candidate (if or whenever there is a requirement).

  • Assisting in dairy, dispatch work, and similar duties in other sections.

  • Any kind of work assigned by a superior authority

    What are the cons?
    1. Candidates get posted in remote cities:
    • Ambernath
    • Balasore
    • Leh
    • Panagarh
    • Tejpur
    • Haldwani
    • Jagdalpur etc.

    2. Posting of stations, as per candidates’ preference is final and irreversible. A subsequent request for a change in preference is not entertained.
    3. Candidates are required to serve at posting for 5 years.
    4. Recruited candidates are always on the toes, responsible for a variety of jobs that require agility and energy.
