• China's National Health Commission called for the "reasonable use" of protective suits in a statement and cautioned against "excessive and disorderly" use of the clothing that would waste resources and could also increase infection.


• The statement was issued as China faces a severe shortage of equipment, including suits, masks, and goggles, to protect medical workers from infection amid a newly identified coronavirus that has killed more than 800 people.

• A second evacuation flight is bringing back another 174 Singaporeans and their family members from virus-hit Wuhan in China to the city-state on Sunday morning, Singapore's foreign ministry said.


• The city-state had evacuated 92 Singaporeans from Wuhan - the locked down Chinese city that is the epicenter of the outbreak - on Jan. 30, some of whom have since been confirmed as infected.

• The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party led by Prime Minister Imran Khan has suspended the general secretary of its Lahore chapter over posters that featured an insulting slogan targeting the minority Hindus after public backlash, a media report said.


• Mian Akram Usman put up the poster in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day, which was observed across the country on February 5, with the slogan “Hindu baat se nahi, laat se maanta hai” (Hindus cannot be reasoned with using words but by force).

• Nearly three decades after it was set up as an autonomous body, India’s public broadcaster Prasar Bharati may finally manage to get its own recruitment board a key step towards addressing the staffing needs of Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR), according to people familiar with the matter.


• A senior government official who asked not to be named said that the Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Act, 1990, laid down the establishment of one or more recruitment boards, but it did not materialize because over the years the Union government and the public broadcaster were not on the same page over the modalities of setting up such aboard.

• The Economic Offences Wing of Goa Police claims to have busted a Ponzi scheme that duped around 400 people by promising high returns and prizes to investors, offering to use their money to gamble in Goa-based casinos and return them the winnings.


• Four men identified as alleged mastermind Dasarath Boora; Adi Ganesh, the official head of the company; their Goa agent Fakruddin; and information technology expert Sandeep have been arrested.

• Quotas and reservations for promotions for government jobs is not a fundamental right, the Supreme Court said in a potentially key judgment delivered.
