  • The recordings, aired on Ukraine’s 1+1 TV channel, feature a conversation between an air traffic controller and the pilot of another plane at the time the Ukrainian airliner was hit on January 8, killing all 176 people on board.

  • The Kerala government has declared the lethal disease caused by the Novel Coronavirus as a "state calamity" after three people from the southern state tested positive for the virus, which originated from China's populated Wuhan city.

  • The I-T Department has sent a notice to Sanadhara Gand, a resident of Purjaribharandi village, asking him to pay Rs 2.59 lakh tax towards bank transactions of Rs 1.47 crore.

  • The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on Monday drew attention to a worrying shortage of essential gear, clothing and rations being faced by soldiers deployed in high altitude areas like Siachen and Ladakh.

  • In a report tabled in Parliament, the CAG said there were delays of up to four years in the procurement of high altitude clothing and equipment items leading to an acute shortage.

NATA 2020 registration begins, architecture aspirants can apply

  • The Council of Architecture has started the online application process for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2020. Candidates can apply online at nata.in. The online application process began on February 1 and the last date to apply is March 16, 2020.

  • The NATA 2020 first exam will be held on April 19 and the second exam on May 31, 2020. The results for the first exam will be declared on May 8 while for the second exam the results will be declared on June 14, 2020.

Banks credit grows by 7.21%, deposits 9.51%: RBI data

  • Banks credit and deposits grew 7.21 per cent and 9.51 per cent to Rs 100.05 lakh crore and Rs 131.26 lakh crore, respectively, in the fortnight ended January 17, according to the latest Reserve Bank data.

  • In the year-ago fortnight, banks advance stood at Rs 93.32 lakh crore while deposits at Rs 119.85 lakh crore.
