• French film director Christophe Ruggia has been held in connection with allegations of sexual harassment made by award-winning actress Adèle Haenel.


• Ruggia was arrested as part of an investigation into "sexual aggression on a minor", police said.


• Haenel, who is now 31, was only 12 when she was cast in Ruggia's film Les Diables (The Devils).

• European powers have triggered a formal dispute mechanism over Iran's breaches of key parts of the 2015 nuclear deal - a move that could spell its end.


• Iran has gradually lifted all limits on its production of enriched uranium, which can be used to make reactor fuel but also nuclear weapons.


• It has said it is entitled to do so in response to sanctions reinstated by the US when it abandoned the deal in 2018.

• A parade adjutant is responsible for executing the parade.


• Captain Tania Shergill, who is an officer with Army's Corps of Signals, will also be the first woman parade adjutant for the Republic Day parade.

• Despite the opposition against National Population Register (NPR) - a biometric database of ordinary residents of India - preparations are on in full swing to update it. Enumerators are being trained to collect data and a “pre-test” or pilot project has already started.


• The NPR first came into being in 2010 and was updated in 2015. Unlike the Census database, which protects the data released and is keep records up to block and Tehsils, the NPR is household-specific and data is not protected.


• The NPR records data like name, age, address, along with linking biometric data like Aadhar, mobile phone, and passport among others.

• Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is expected to declare the result of CA final exam (old and new course) on January 16 or 17, 2020. Candidates can check their results on icaiexam.icai.org once it is declared.

• The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) is expected to release the admit cards for Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) 2018 on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. PSTET 2018 exam is scheduled to be held on January 19, 2020.
