What is SAT?
  • SAT is an international paper-pencil-based standardized test whose scores are used to make admission decisions for undertaking undergraduate programs by aspirants or test takers.

What is Eligibility?
  • It simply means the state of being eligible i.e. being qualified or found worthy to partake in something.

What is SAT Eligibility?
  • SAT Eligibility is that which is required or makes a test taker qualified to be chosen to undertake the Test or is simply those criteria that are needed to enable an aspirant to sit for the exam.

  • Though SAT Eligibility encompasses some considerations with regards to certain conditions beyond human capacity.

    What is the Eligibility set out by the Board?
    • The College Board has no official specifications or criteria for an Aspirant to take the SAT but there are necessary things a test taker has to bear in mind before registering for the exam.

    Who is Eligible to take SAT?
    • Any Aspirant can opt in for the most renowned entrance exam for undergraduate studies (SAT) when the test taker is in the junior or senior high school.

    What is the age limit for SAT?
    • There is no maximum or minimum limit set by the conducting body to the age of any aspirant who is in high school and wishes to take the test.

    When is the best time eligible for taking SAT by Aspirant?
    • Anytime can be the best especially if the aspirant is in high school but most preferable if the test taker is in the 10th or 11th grade.

    What language is SAT eligibly written and taken in?
    • The Test is purely based on English Language only but aspirants might consider taking the SAT subject tests in 9 other languages like French, German and Spanish etc.

  • Conforming to the ultimate standard perfection or excellence; high school students are mainly the test takers or aspirants of SAT.

  • It is mostly Aspirants or Test takers aged between 17 – 18 years sit for the test as stated in the records by the College Board.

  • There are no restrictions to the age limit for the registration of SAT.

  • Nevertheless, if an aspirant is 12 years old or below; the test taker has to register SAT through mail only because the aspirant can not register through the Official Website due to age restrictions placed on the site. Check Younger Students Criteria for more details.

  • An Aspirant that is 13 years old or above and wants to register for SAT, can create a free College Board account through their Official Website.

  • Moreover if an Aspirant or test taker is 21 years old or above; the test taker must have and present an Official Government-Issued Photo ID (passport, driver’s license, National ID etc.) on the test day. Check Test-takers Over the Age of 21 for more details.

Eligibility Considerations

  • For Aspirants or Test Takers that indicated to the College Board that they have disabilities are eligible for; Special Accommodations – if approved by the College Board’s Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD).

  • Some of these Accommodations include:
    • Braille and large-print exam questions for visually impaired.
    • Extended time
    • For Essays – Use of Computers
    • Extra breaks

  • There are more accommodations reserved for aspirants with requested documented disabilities which are considered in all by the College Board.

  • For Aspirants or test takers who are from low-income families and are citizens of US or reside in US territory are eligible for waived fee (deduction on registration fee). They must have to fulfill or fall within one of the following criteria or more;
    • If the Aspirant’s family receives public assistance.

    • If the test taker lives in a foster home, federal subsidized public housing or homeless.

    • If the Aspirant is an orphan or a ward of the state.

    • If test taker can participate or is enrolled in the NSLP (National School Launch Program).

    • If the Aspirant’s family income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set out by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) for food and nutrition Service.

    • If a test taker is enrolled in a Federal, State or Local program that supervises the aiding of students from low income families.

  • This refers to the documents that make an Aspirant qualified to take the SAT test and it needs to be presented at the test center for clearance on the day of the exam. They include;
    • SAT Admission Ticket – obtained on completion of SAT registration
    • A Photo ID

  • Also the Exam Date, Time and Center assigned to an Aspirant make the test taker eligible for taking the Test at that period.
