American College Testing exam or ACT exam is the standardized test that is used by most colleges in the United States of America for providing admissions.
First commenced on November 1959, the exam is administered by a non-profit organization, ACT.
The test measures the educational development of high school candidates and their capability to complete college-level syllabus.
The exam is divided into four sections; English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) are asked from each section.
Additionally, candidates can choose to take an optional writing test. However, the writing score shall not have any effect on the composite score, but candidates must check the eligibility of the colleges they want to apply before registering for the exam.
Documents
ACT Test Day - Documents Required:
All candidates who have registered for the exam are expected to come on the examination center on the day of the exam. The candidates must carry the following documents on the day of the test:
Examination ticket: Candidates are expected to carry a printed copy of their tickets at the test center on the day of the test.
In case the candidate forgets to get the examination ticket to the testing center, the scores shall be delayed.
In case the candidates lose their ticket, it is possible to a print out of another ticket from the ACT web account of the candidate.
Photo Identification: Candidates are expected to bring an acceptable photo ID to meet the ACT requirements.
It is essential that the photo OD’s are original and issued by the city, state, federal, or any government agency.
Photo ID issued by schools is also acceptable.
All photo IDs must be current and valid until the date of the exam.
Number 2 pencil: Candidates are expected to bring their stationery items.
Candidates must bring soft lead number 2 pencils which are sharpened.
Candidates are not allowed to bring any other writing instruments to the examination center for use.
Candidates who have registered for the optional writing test must complete the writing test with the same pencil.
Watch: Candidates can bring their watches to the test centers. However, alarms are not allowed in the testing center. The supervisor shall announce five minutes before the finishing of each test.
Calculator: Only permitted calculators can be used by the candidates for mathematics test solely. Use of calculators otherwise is prohibited.
Snacks: Candidates can choose to bring some snacks for refreshments that they can eat outside the test center when they are given a break.

ACT Test Day - Key Instructions:
It is not only about preparing for the ACT exam; rather it is about preparing physically and mentally for the exam such that candidates reach the test center with whatever they shall need.
Here are some of the essential instructions that candidates are expected to follow on the day of the test:
Preparing for the exam: ACT is a competitive exam. Therefore, despite studying hard candidates may find it difficult to conquer the exam.
This is because of tapering. Missing a few study sessions just a day before the exam can help candidates become more mentally alert and able to tackle the subjects in a better way.
Finding the test center: Mostly, the test center is the same as the high school of the candidate. However, locating the test center a few hours before the test can be an added stress for the candidates.
It is essential for candidates to find the test center ahead of time.
Candidates must also check for parking space and mode of reaching the test center at least a week before the exam.
Arriving on time: It is advised that candidates must reach their designated testing centers at least by 7:45 a.m.
Candidates who choose to reach earlier than this may have to wait for the test proctor to finish the setting up of the test.
Carry the documents: Candidates are advised to carry all the above-mentioned documents to the testing center.
Others
ACT Test Day - Other Instructions
The following things are not permitted in the examination center. Therefore, candidates must not bring these along with them on the day of the test:
Scratch paper, textbooks, foreign language, and notes
Highlighter pens, colored pencils or pens, correction tape or fluid.
All electronic devices are strictly prohibited, other than watch and permitted calculators.
Reading material
Tobacco.
Besides, confidence is the key to a good score. The performance of the candidates is a reflection of their expectations. Therefore, the candidate must be confident about their learnings before appearing for the exam.
