Institute of Banking Personnel Selection – What is IBPS and how it works?

shape Introduction

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), is an autonomous agency in India and offers recruitment, placement and promotion services to several Indian national banks, thus providing assistance to the financial sector of India.
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, founded in 1975, was started as Personnel Selection Services (PSS). In 1984, it became an independent entity at the behest of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Public Sector Banks.
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection is envisioned as a self-governed academic and research-oriented Institute, with a mission of enhancing human-resource development through personnel assessment. IBPS conducts several exams for different clerical and officer posts and hence it is regarded as a premier organization particularly in the field of employment testing, selection, and assessment, for various positions at Indian national banks.

shape CWE

A Common Written Examination (CWE) was launched by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection in 2011 for the recruitment of clerks and officers in Indian nationalized and regional rural banks.CWE is thus mandatory for all the candidates interested in the various posts offered by IBPS. Interested candidates are required to submit an online application on the Official website of IBPS and then appear for the online objective exams (Prelims and Mains). Only those candidates who pass the prelims are invited to write the mains examinations.
Aspirants have to go attend an interview process after passing the online exams (prelims and mains) conducted at various centers. Based on the interview, successful candidates are offered placements in different national and regional rural banks of India.
