After deciding to take TOEFL, what follows next is to get acquainted with the TOEFL Test Registration process. TOEFL registration is an easy and simple process. The candidates have the freedom of taking the exam whenever in the year according to their benefit and preferred dates.

✶ First test takers should decide which version of the test is right for them, There are two versions of the IELTS test -

It is strongly recommended that candidates should also check with the organizations which they wish to apply before they book the test. -
✦ IELTS Academic:
This is recommended for candidates who plan to undertake academic study.
✦ IELTS General Training:
This is recommended for candidates to use at work, work-related training or for migration.
✶ Check the IELTS test dates -
There are a limited number of places for all IELTS test sessions. IELTS test with the British Council are very popular, so it is recommended that candidates should register one month prior to make sure to get a place. Check the IELTS test dates.
One can use the online registration system to find up-to-date information about test dates and availability.
Please note: test takers Listening, Reading and Writing tests will be completed on the same day. His/her Speaking test may be offered on the same day, or up to a week before or after the main test day. One will receive notification if his/her Speaking test is on a different day to their main test day 5 days before the test.
✶ Register -
The fee for registration is INR Rs. 13,250.
Register online by completing the following two steps.
- ✦ Choose the test date and complete the application form online
✦ Pay online by credit card / debit Card (Visa, Visa electron, Master Card)
- ✦ Download the IELTS registration form
✦ Choose the test date and complete the application details
✦ Pay by demand draft or by cash (To pay by cash visit the nearest ICICI bank with the ICICI payment slip)
✶ Choose the payment options -
If registering online / post / courier candidates can pay using the following methods:
- ✦ Credit card (on the website)
✦ Debit card (on the website)
✦ Cash (make cash payment at any ICICI bank branch by filling in the ICICI deposit slip)
✦ Demand Draft (should be made to British Council and payable at New Delhi)
Please note: British council do not accept cash or credit / debit card payments at any of their offices in India.
Debit / Credit card used for online payment (on the website) must have an international payment facility. Also, only three payment attempts can be made online against any single registration.
✶ Prepare and send the documents -
Candidates who apply using the online application form and are paying online by credit/debit card:

✦ No documents required.

✦ Upload the scanned ICICI deposit slip in the candidate area or send it via courier
✦ Send the DD via courier
✶ After the registration -
Those registering online or through courier / post will receive an email containing access details to council free online preparation course - Road to IELTS, on successful realisation of the payment.
Also, candidates will receive the free IELTS preparation book within 10 days after registration at the address provided by them in the application form.
