ESIC Recruitment Eligibility

Prospective candidates of ESIC Upper Division Clerk (UDC) & Stenographer 2019, should qualify as per the ESIC Recruitment Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualifications, Age Limit and Nationality. The eligibility criterion are described in the below sections.
Educational/ Academic Qualifications Nationality Age Limit
For UDC: Degree, Computer knowledge
For Stenographer: 10+2, 80 WPM Steno Speed in English/ Hindi
A candidate must be either:
  • A Citizen of India,
  • A Subject of Nepal,
  • A Subject of Bhutan,
  • A Tibetan Refugee,
  • A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) Migrated from specific countries - Check Nationality section below.
Note: ✦ Non-Indian Citizens mentioned above should have an intention of permanently settling in India ✦ A certificate of eligibility has to be issued by the Government of India for non-citizens
Age Limit (as on 15.04.2019): Minimum Age – 18 years Maximum Age – 27 years

The ESIC Eligibility criterion are described in detail in the below sections:
A candidate must be either:

    (a) A citizen of India, or
    (b) A subject of Nepal, or
    (c) A subject of Bhutan, or
    (d) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the Ist January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
    (e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar ), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the Examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.
UDC:
    1. A degree of a recognized University or equivalent.
    2. Working knowledge of computer including use of office suites and databases.

Stenographer:
    1. Higher Secondary Pass (pass in 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized board).
    2. A Speed of 80 words per minute in stenography in English/Hindi.
    3. Working knowledge of Computer including use of Office Suites and databases.

(a) Between 18 to 27 years as on the closing date 15.04.2019.
(b) Upper age limit is relaxable for persons belonging to reserved categories i.e. SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD/ Ex-Servicemen and for ESIC Employees, Government Servants as under:

PH (i) UR- 10 years (ii) OBC- 13 years (iii) SC/ST- 15 years As per instructions of DoPT, a PWD applicant is entitled to age concession in different combinations subject to the condition of maximum age of 56 years. Further in case of a PWD by virtue of being a ESIC/Govt. Employee, concession to him/her will be admissible either as a 'person with disability' or as a ESIC/Govt. Employee' whichever may be more beneficial to him/her.
Ex-Servicemen (i) UR- 3 years (*) (ii) OBC- 6 years (*) (iii) SC/ST- 8 years (*) (*) after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age
ESIC Employee/ Government Servant who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date for receipt of application (i) UR- upto 40 years (ii) OBC- upto 43 years (iii) SC/ST- upto 45 years
Other categories of persons In accordance with the instructions and orders issued from time to time
As per ESIC Recruitment 2019 following are the PWD categories:

    Category A – Blindness and Low Vision.
    Category B – Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
    Category C – Locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy.
    Category D – Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness.
    Category E - Multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (a) to (d) including deaf -blindness.
