APPSC FSO Selection Process

Applications are invited through online from eligible candidates for recruitment to the post of Forest Section Officer (FSO) in A.P. Forest Sub Service. The FSO Selection Process involves Screening Examination, Main examination and Physical examination.

The different phases of the FSO Selection Procedure are as described below:
Scheme of Screening Test for recruitment to the post of Forest Section Officer (FSO) in a.p. Forest subordinate service.
  • The screening test consist of 2 parts i.e., Part A and Part B.

  • Both the parts consists of 75 Questions each with 75 Marks respectively.

  • This test would be of 150 Minutes duration.

  • All Papers will be of OBJECTIVE TYPE.

  • Screening Test will be conducted in Offline Mode

Scheme of Main Examination for recruitment to the posts of Forest Section Officer (FSO) in a.p. Forest subordinate service.

  • The Main Examination will be conducted in Online Mode – Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • The Main Examination consist of 4 Subjects which are Objective Type.

  • General English (50 marks) & General Telugu (50 marks) are Qualifying Test with 100 questions with a duration of 100 Minutes.

  • Paper - 1, Paper - 2 and Paper - 3 are Objective type papers, consist of 150 questions each for 150 Marks with a duration of 150 Minutes respectively.

i) No person shall be eligible for appointment by direct recruitment to the post of FSO in the service, unless he is not less than 163 Cms., in height not less than 84 Cms., round the chest on full inspiration and has a chest expansion of not less than 5 Cms., on full inspiration.
ii) In case of women candidates, they must not be less than 150 Cms., in height, not less than 79 Cms., round the chest on full inspiration and a chest expansion of not less than 5 Cms., on full inspiration.
iii) Provided the minimum height is relaxable by 5 Cms. In the case of the candidates belong to Gurkhas, Nepalese, Assamese, NAFA, Naga, Manipuri, Gauhati, Kummoni, Sikkimese, Bhutanese and Scheduled Tribes.
iv) Provided further that in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes, where the reserved quota cannot be fully utilized for want of sufficient number of candidates possessing the requisite physical qualifications, the physical standards shall not be less than 158 Cms in height and not less than 78.8 Cms. round the chest on full inspiration with a minimum expansion of 5 Cms
v) The candidate should possess normal eye sight apart from the physical requirements prescribed above.
vi) The eligible candidates selected in written test shall be subjected to the test of walking. In case of Male candidates, a distance of 25 Kms walking is to be completed in 4 hours duration. In case of Woman candidates, a distance of 16 Kms is to be completed in 4 hours duration.
vi) For qualified candidates, weightage shall be given to the NCC certificate holdershaving requisite qualifications. Physical measurements at the time of selection, as follows:

  • NCC-“C” Certificate holder – 5 bonus marks.

  • NCC-“B” Certificate holder – 3 bonus marks.

  • NCC-“A” Certificate holder – 1 bonus mark.

Common for Men and Women:
Must undergo a medical Examination to be conducted by the Medical Board at Visakhapatnam and produce a health certificate signed by the Medical Board in the form prescribed by Article 49 of the Civil Service Regulation testifying to the candidates sound hearing and general physical fitness for outdoor work in the Forest Department and to the fact that he /she bears on his/her body marks of successful vaccination.

shape Selection

  • The selection of candidates for appointment to the posts shall be based on the merit in the computer based examination, to be held as per the scheme of examination.

  • The final selection shall be done from among the persons who have qualified in walking test based on the marks secured in written examination duly observing roster points and the bonus marks wherever applicable.

  • Appearance in all the papers of screening examination / Main examination / Physical examination is compulsory. Absence in any of the papers / examination will automatically render the disqualification of the candidature.

  • The minimum qualifying marks for consideration of a candidate to the selection process are:

    • OCs – 40%

    • BCs – 35 %

    • SCs & STs – 30%

    In the event of Schedule Caste & Schedule Tribe candidates not coming up for selection with the existing minimum prescribed for selection in the competitive examination conducted by the APPSC their selection shall be considered on the basis of rank with reference to their performance in the written and / or oral competitive examination irrespective of the marks secured.

  • Where the candidates get equal number of marks in the examination if two or more candidates get equal total number of marks, those candidates shall be bracketed. Candidates within the same bracket shall then be ranked 1, 2, 3 etc., according to age i.e., oldest being considered for admission. In case there is tie in age, the person who possesses educational qualification at earlier date would be considered.

  • The appointment of selected candidates will be subjected to their being found medically fit in the appropriate medical classification, and if he/she is of sound health, active habits and free from any bodily defect or infirmity.
