  • Skill education is a significant factor to eliminate poverty by enhancing employment, efficiency and supporting continuous business growth and sustainable development. In India, there is a contradiction under which on the one side, young people who enter the labor market do not have work and on the other side, the industry is arguing that adequately qualified workers lack.

  • In India, the employment sector presents major issues in relation to its informal workforce composition, the elevated unemployment rates, the lack of skills and labor markets with strict labor laws and institutions.

  • Vocational training is essential for increasing an individual’s employment prospects by enabling the shift of the person to the labor market.

  • Skill India seeks to utilize this huge indigenous workforce capacity. No such measures have been taken over more than seven decades since India’s independence to utilize the capacity of its workers.

  • Skill India programme will enable and train the huge, excellent workforce of the nation with abilities and expertise that can be employed.

  • This will assist them to make a significant contribution to the industrialization and financial growth in India.

Skill India is a project initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 July 2015 designed to train more than 40 crore people of various abilities in India till 2020.
1. To generate possibilities and areas for the growth of Indian youth's skills as well as to create more industries that have been skilled for so long and develop new skills development industries.
2. To give proper training and skills to 500 million youth in our nation by 2020, comprising every village.
3. Promote standards in the appointment procedure and introduce a system for the implementation of the registry of skills.
4. Raise the efficiency of employees and co-ordinate training and education with the country's requirements.
5. Grant money for the evaluation of skills by encouraging young people to increase productivity and efficiency.
6. Reward applicants who receive skill training at an ordinary financial award of Rupees 10,000 per student from certified organizations.
7. To support one million youth with a total price of nearly Rupees 10 billion.
1) The focus is to empower young people to get jobs and enhance business.
2) Provision of training and assistance for conventional activities such as carpenters, cobblers, blacksmiths, masons, nurses, tailors, weavers, etc.
3) New fields such as real estate, construction, transportation, textile, gem industry, banking, tourism, jewellery designing and numerous other areas where skill development is insufficient or extremely low will be granted more importance.
4) The training programmes are in place with global standards so that our country’s youth can satisfy not only the national requirements but also of other countries like the US, Japan, Germany, China, Russia, and Western Asia.
5) The creation of a slogan known as ‘Rural India Skill’ (skill India conducts a globally recognized level of education for Indians residing in rural areas) is another notable characteristic of the ‘Skill India’ programme in order to implement and verify the training procedure.
6) The specific, demand-based programme would be launched for particular age groups such as language, communication skills, personality development, leadership skills, etc.
7) The ‘Skill India' training process is creative and involves games, group discussions, planning, practical studies, case studies, etc.
8) The Skill India courses take into account several variables such as age, geography, language, and economic status.
9) A committee created by the government stated that the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) – spent over Rupees 1500 crores over 18 lakh individuals but lacked to accomplish important objectives.
10) It also aims at building up a system of high- quality teacher-training organizations within the field of skill training.
11) Manage a domestic register, named as the Labour Market Information System (LMIS) that will work as a platform to meet the country’s demand and supply of skilled labor.
